I would imagine that you would be able to use either the debit card or cash at the airport. The only thing with a debit card is it might take a bit more time for the money to clear to LH, but for 70 euro, that shouldn't be that big a deal.

I don't think it would be for on the pad, as you're looking at needing a 100+ feet of cable. I think it's for a ground landing, like the escape hatches you'd find in some commercial aircraft (like the 747), but I can't find any hard info on it.

My question is why doesn't the US media seem to be covering this? I found out about it from the Guardian an hour ago, and CNN hasn't had anything until just now. Some of their opinion pieces might be a bit obnoxious, but the Guardian has been a pretty good source of news as of late.
