RE: Boeing 737 MAX 10 Details Emerge

What is the customer need? Isn't the problem here that the 757 market, which was dormant for a decade, has reawakened as 757s come due for retirement. It seems that the 737-9ER and later the 737 max 9 was a stretch to fill the gap that fell short. The A321neo is a better stretch, but also would seem...

RE: Airbus Launches A330NEO

So now that Airbus is building their original concept for the A350 from 2004 -- and the one the airline's nixed back in 2006, wouldn't it perhaps have been better if Airbus had designed the A350 to be a pure B777 competitor. Now they've got two aircraft bunched together in the lower part of the mark...

RE: Last Ever SAA B747 Flight Today

Sad day indeed. I remember being allowed to run outside during second grade class when the very first one arrived and flew over my school in 1971. One of the early experiences that created my interest in airliners. I finally got to fly on one of SAA's only last year too.

RE: Former 787 Chief Disses Supply Chain

I have often wondered if Boeing's decision to outsource so much of the 787 wasn't part of Boeing management's dissatisfaction with their own workforce and all the strikes in recent years. It has often seemed to me, even when I was employed by Boeing, that management gets frustrated with their workfo...

RE: Airline Pricing Compared To Other Modes Of Travel

Just for comparison, in 1985 I went home to Cleveland for Christmas - my first Christmas where I lived away from my family, The best roundtrip fare i could find was $368. Last year, 21 years later, it cost me $348. I don't know of any other expense that is cheaper now than back in 1985.

I've unfortunately had to work with a number of individuals like Mr. Weldon seems to be. Once brilliant engineers that have found their expertise sidelined by advancing technology. Well, first of all - Pan Am did survive - kinda sort-of. Its now a railway and a small airline based in Portsmouth New Hampshire. Maybe its just a horrible example of badge engineering, but it does carry on the Pan Am brand. If the original Pan Am had survived, it would have had to have taken a very...

Why are the fasteners holding up completion of Ship One, and yet not impacting all the other planes coming down the line? It seems to me that a lot of people are complaining that the security is a needless and inefective hassle. The Y3 will be a replacement for the 773 and 748 models - sized from 350 to 500 passengers. The initial model will be timed to ride the 773 replacement cycle around 2020 and will grow into the replacement for the 748. As such, it will both be a great freighter and passenger airliner. How wide would the fuselage of the Y1 need to be to accomodate a 2+2+2 seating configuration with deep enough overhead bins that allow the typical roll-on bag to be stored efficiently? The included spider chart seems to indicate that the KC-30 (A330) is larger than the KC-767. You could use a simiilar chart to prove that the A380 is more "capable" than the 737.

RE: 787 Engines Paint Work Issue
