It’ll be interesting to see if IAD-SEA can really sustain all that capacity. With UA at 4x, AS at 3x and DL at 2x, that’s nine flights a day in summer. Even considering connecting flows at each end, it’s a lot of capacity. Five years ago, there were only 3x flights daily on this route...all UA. IAD...

For Airbus, between the 320neo and 321neo and then the 321neo to the 338. Each of those gaps are roughly 45 seats depending on how you count. 45 seats is if you can't count. It is more like 150 seats or 65% greater. The A321 sits 240 passengers with 28inch pitch and 18inch wide seats. That is 500 s...

After Neo/Max - The Next Clean Sheet Need

With discussions around 757 replacement, the 321neo, the Max debacle, NMA, etc. it is easy to get lost. As I look at what both Airbus and Boeing have to offer in terms of Neo/Max aircraft, there still remain some pretty big gaps in capacity. For Airbus, between the 320neo and 321neo and then the 321...

What's the new airline coming to IAD!?

It is some resurrected form of WOW air. And there is some question if this is even an effort that will get off the ground. IAD said it hadn't heard about any new proposed service. So I would not put any stock in it whatsoever.

Re: WN to close EWR

Lot's of intriguing theories about what might be going on with WN vis a vis UA. UA flies 5x DCA-CLE. If UA wanted to cut CLE all together from DCA, that would be 5 slot pairs available for WN. 5x to BOS would be a nice opening salvo to join the BOS shuttle skirmish... Or they could add IND, DTW, SDF...

Re: U.S firm behind new WOW air found out + IAD to be one of new destinations

So I am confused about who is actually starting the airline. On the one hand, we have investors tied to Ireland and Ryan Air https://newsroom.aviator.aero/ryan-family-to-start-new-icelandic-airline/ and we also have an equally factual sounding account that a woman who is on the OAG board leading the...

Re: DC/VA/MD Aviation Thread - 2019

I'll bet you could expect some additional growth via modest up-gauging once the new concourse opens, but that's not going to be huge (50 seaters to 76 seaters at most). On that last point, how are they building out the gates on the new North concourse? Will they be half height and so only accommoda...

Re: DC/VA/MD Aviation Thread - 2019

FAA reports that IAD passed DCA in enplanements in 2018. https://www.insidenova.com/news/transportation/n-va-transportation-notes-edition/article_5e58bc5c-ad6f-11e9-bff4-734817f711de.html I don't think DCA capacity is restrained by construction, so this seems to be actual good news for IAD. I would ...

Re: Boeing 737MAX Grounded Worldwide Q3 2019

Its becoming more of a reality that the MAX may never fly again. The moment the accountants report to the big bosses at Boeing that their calculations show that shutting down the max and doing a brand new NSA is less $$$ than trying to get the MAX back flying, they will shut it down. I reckon the e...

Re: OAG Changes 7/21/2019: AA Reduces MYR;WC Adds DAL;MAX Cuts

PHL-MYR Enter NK Enter F9 ...AA retreat? The fact they did not adjust CLT tells me it probably isn’t a filing error. Also, imho when you drop trips due to declining performance they tend to trickle out one by one over time. Dropping 3 or 4 roundtrips at once is not optimal because there’s no way to...

Re: AA/RPA 4599 issue 7/19

It has declared an emergency according to LiveATC. Possibly additional issue? Might have had mask deployment. Eerie to hear "79 souls on board". It's not that eerie to hear. It's a term with a long maritime history that is used in part by tradition, and in part because it avoid confusion ...
