The purchasing power of the Aus min wage is $11, much different than what you would get by just using exchange rates.

@mad99,

Having looked at actual car sales, US new cars sales are actually higher per person than in UK. In fact there were more car sales in US in 2013 than entire EU (which has many more people).

So basically you were wrong in implying don't buy new cars at the same rates lol

Yes the bins look very outdated. The a330 has a more modern looking cabin. This looks like a refurbished DC10. What's amazing is that the 777 cabin from 1994 still looks like the most modern cabin in the sky. Airbus here didn't make it curvy but rather boxy. This makes it less modern looking.

Wealth as it is defined here is simply not a good indicator for standard of living. I don't know what you are arguing about; my point is that income (per individual if you like ) is a much better barometer of one's ability to buy things (which if my definition of "rich") than sum of your assets, which is mostly tied to something you can't use to consume goods and services---a house...

This is very misleading. The figure is based not on income but rather value of ones home and all financial assets. Germans find it cheaper to rent, and thus don't own homes at the same extent. Also, properties are rather inexpensive. So that's the only reason why wealth is lower vs Spain for example...
