Re: WN 737-300's and CA

-300s are already being narrowed down to Texas. Ton of them in and out of DAL and HOU and I've seen quite a few in ATL. As a DAL flier, I've been on a lot more -300s lately. Well, that's what I was afraid of. Since we're less than 11 months from full retirement it makes sense. It's going to be stra...

Re: WN 737-300's and CA

As a west coast based guy, this is great news. If there's any -300 flying anywhere - it will be in and out of SFO to SoCal. That seems to be where the majority exists today. Maybe your read on this is different as someone with a larger sample size than me, but I feel like the 733 has had a bit of a...

Re: WN 737-300's and CA

You are correct though, it looks like after mid-January, they further west they get is LAS and they turn back to the east. Maybe has something to do with all intra-CA flights being equipped with wifi? Now that you mention it, it must be a way of them competing with AS on being CA's go to airline, a...

WN 737-300's and CA

Hello all, I have some left over credits to use on WN, and I have been looking for flights that have -300's. However, I noticed that after about the second week of January, there are no -300's in the schedule for any of the cities in CA. I have looked on flights that have typically been a -300 stron...

Re: OAG Changes 11/11/2017: WN Adds DAL-ONT, Cuba Cuts: CYO Delayed

I agree, that would be great to see. I'd love to be able to go FAT-SAN-ELP on AS. But, like you said, the airport is also expensive. I don't think that has changed, because they are still working on the airport, as they have been for over 15 years now lol. They just opened a new car rental facility....

Re: OAG Changes 11/11/2017: WN Adds DAL-ONT, Cuba Cuts: CYO Delayed

There is traffic between ELP and SAN (DOT Table 6 stats for 1Q16 showed 40 PDEW but is closer to 60 PDEW in other quarters) but I don't think it's the kind that would use 2 or 3x weekly service -- probably military, (& border patrol), local U.S. and Mexican businesses, maybe some Mexican-orient...

Folks in El Paso are fully aware of the issues at G4, and they generally are not the types to try anything new. I was there about two months ago, and...

Re: Southwest Leaving Secondary Markets?

I wouldn't classify SNA as a secondary airport, but the cutbacks there are curious. It was one of the first cities to get Mexico service, not it appears they are all but leaving. As for CVG, they have had ample opportunities to enter that market, and haven't. Closing DAY, if the do, might increase ...

SAN-GDL ???? I agree {scratches head}. Is this telling us something (else) exciting is in SAN's near future? I'm kind of surprised they didn't apply for LHR-SAN-FAT - not enuf traffic from LON to Fresno I assume? bb I live in Fresno, and that would be nice to have. But I don't think there's hardly ...

Re: BA announces LHR-MSY

Awesome - the potential of the 787, on display yet again. Somehow I have yet to see a 787 despite having been to ATL, DTW, AMS and FRA. I've seen plenty of A380's but no 787. You need to get to LAX. I recently flew through there, and I saw many 787's. It was my first time seeing the 787 and A380 to...

Re: WN v. DL Dallas Love Battle Goes Back to Court

So theoretically, WN could just wait out the rest of the 8 years of the Wright Amendment, and then there would be no restrictions at DAL? Would they be able to build as many gates as they want after that point?

Re: 2017 SNA Slot Allocation Released

Why would SNA be stupid enough to force their largest carrier to reduce service? That makes no sense. How is that any different from DCA and the DOJ forcing their largest carrier (AA) to reduce service. Both airports are slot/capacity restricted and a governing agency decided to take stuff away fro...

Re: Hawaii & the 73G, 737-900 vs 737-800

Crazy that a 767 can operate OGG-DFW for AA, yet OGG's runway is still too short for the 739. Interesting to me that's all! If the 739's gear was taller, this probably would be feasible. The airplane has to accelerate to takeoff speeds much greater than the other 737 models because it cannot rotate...

Sorry for the confusion. I was speaking just for the -300's. There used to be Triple Crown, Silver, Lone Star, Arizona, and California. Silver was repainted, Lone Star was retired to a -700, Triple Crown was repainted and moved to a -700, and now we are left with CA and AZ. I was just curious if the...

WN 737-300 Special Liveries

First time post, long time reader. This morning I received an email from WN, and I noticed that it had a little picture of California One with the new Heart tail. Does anyone know when that airplane will be retired and moved to a -700? Since Lone Star was retired, California and Arizona are the only...
