This sounds similar to what happened with the CSAR-X program. A late change which led to two successful protests and now an IG audit.

According to the USAF (based on the KC-X AoA), the A330 (KC-30 entry) is a medium sized tanker along with the 767 and 787. Only the A340, 777 and 747 are in the large category.

I thought I read somewhere that the airlines jet fuel pricing is based on home heating oil prices and that airlines which operate primarily in the West are unfairly impacted by that because fuel oil is not used in the West to heat homes. Go figure.

Way back in the 70's & 80's Aloha leased 737-200 aircraft from other carriers. I seem to recall one from Air Florida another from Britannia, Air Cal and others.
