New BNE-USA route depends on QF/AA getting approved:

The only slack in the fleet of 787s is around 3x weekly out of BNE which is apparently for a new USA destination.... unless they do BNE-PER-CDG? But QF have said if Paris is launched it needs to be close to a daily service to work not 3x weekly.Jump to post
Looks like QF A332s will expand international services with QF from around September 2018 with SYD-HKG, SYD-KX, SYD-BKK, SYD-PVG, and SYD-PEK all seeing A332s being operated in a 27J/237Y config, I can only assume this will be the 8 IFE fitted A332s - VH-EBM,EBN,EBO,EBP,EBQ,EBR,EBS,EBV. I can still ...Jump to post
The last 2yrs most of QFs expansion has been from MEL, BNE and to a lesser extent PER. Not much from SYD. New routes for MEL and BNE have been: MEL-NRT-MEL MEL-CHC-MEL MEL-DPS-MEL MEL-SFO-MEL BNE-CHC-BNE BNE-NRT-BNE BNE-POM-BNE The only 2 remaining routes to be confirmed are the new BNE-USA route, a...Jump to post
Looking at the schedules the last B744 flight out of BNE will be 10th November. With BNE-LAX eventually moving to 11x weekly B789 is there any slack in the fleet for the apparent new BNE-USA route that hasnt been announced yet? My quick calculation has the fleet fully used. QF are only getting 8 B78...Jump to post
From the end of March looks like QF are replacing all B717s with B73Hs on the MEL-HBA-MEL route, and the current off peak weekend SYD-MEL, and MEL-BNE B717 services have been removed from the schedules. Where are the B717s going? I cant find any additional B717 flying in the schedule? Also didn't Co...Jump to post
Looking at some of the QF schedule changes from March 25 onwards and noticed that QF117/118 switches from daily A333 to daily A332 from Sep/Oct. The actual seat map listed for those flights is 28J/237Y. I thought those A332s couldn't do HKG due to no proper crew rest?Jump to post
On the topic of JQ 787s: JQ are improving the 787 schedule/utilization from FEB which will see BNE-DPS-BNE becoming daily, and MEL-DPS-MEL becoming double daily. JQ are also eliminating most of the domestic 787 tag flights. From the end of March 2018 MEL-SIN-MEL will be reduced with the freed up fly...Jump to post
The QF LAX/JFK schedule improves slightly from end of March next year when QF94 is timed to leave LAX 50min later.
Also the current 2hr QF93/94 turnaround in MEL will no longer happen as QF93 will operate off the back of the new A380 SIN flight giving it 4+ hrs on the ground in MEL.
I cant see LAX-JFK-LAX being reduced to 5x weekly, it needs to be daily to attract the biz traffic. Even during the GFC, and QFs own downturn JFK always remained daily. QF have already announced that 4x B789s will be BNE based, so a 3x weekly ORD and 2x weekly LAX isn't enough flying for 4x frames. ...Jump to post
With the 2 QF A380s being freed up from March 2018 once QF9/10 becomes B789, obviously 1 will be used to replace the A330 on the QF35/36 MEL-SIN run, has any announcement or update come through regarding the use of the second A380? Also QF stated they were looking at a new Asia route for the spare A...Jump to post
Your forgetting QF also get the benefit of EK pax booking on QF international services:
SYD-AKL (EK have handed all this flying over to QF)
Surely QF get a fair benifit from this?
Summary of changes: https://www.qantasnewsroom.com.au/media-releases/qantas-and-emirates-to-extend-partnership/ And from: http://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1369941&start=500 BIG NEWS: *QF dumps SYD-DXB-LHR back to SYD-SIN-LHR daily A380 (QF1/2) *QF increase MEL-SIN-MEL to do...Jump to post
BIG NEWS: *QF dumps SYD-DXB-LHR back to SYD-SIN-LHR daily A380 (QF1/2) *QF increase MEL-SIN-MEL to double daily (A380 and A330) https://www.qantasnewsroom.com.au/media-releases/qantas-and-emirates-to-extend-partnership/ I guess this will appease the MEL folk who complained about the loss of the A380...Jump to post
The problem with CDG is it doesn't allow the aircraft to be rotated with the existing BNE-LAX-JFK flights. It also doesnt help the massive short fall in seats changing from B744 to B789. Thats why my guess is another USA destination say DFW, both the LAX and DFW would arrive in BNE early in the morn...Jump to post
My guess for the 4 BNE based B789s: The first 2: BNE-LAX-JFK-LAX-BNE will switch from B744 to B789, this will also enable aircraft rotation on the return through LAX with the MEL based B789s (QF96) The second 2: BNE-DFW-BNE, this will pick up some of the capacity short fall by the replacement of the...Jump to post
My prediction.... EBG/EBL will be upgraded to domestic config with existing IFE ripped out and ipads in Y. Simply to expensive to fit new Y seats/IFE and crew rest etc. The 2 spare A380s will operate SYD-HKG and MEL-HKG daily, thus freeing up an A333 to take over the PEK flying from EBG/EBL, even wi...Jump to post
Looks like QF are in the process of updating the NW schedule starting end of October 2017. Some of the changes Ive found so far: *SYD-HKG-SYD becomes double daily B744 - (2x daily A380 during the peak holiday period Dec/Jan) *Both the BNE-HKG-BNE and MEL-HKG-MEL are departing 1hr earlier then last y...Jump to post
Does anyone else think that China is not the answer to VAs woes? China is already a very well served market, and low yielding at times, hence why QF only fly daily to PVG and PEK. Its incredibly hard to compete with the local Chinese carriers. Add to this HKG which has also come under a lot of press...Jump to post
I wonder how long until SYD-KIX-SYD becomes year round?
I have also heard QF are looking at:
*Making PER-AKL-PER a year round service once PER-LHR starts
*B73Hs to operate a overnight MEL-DPS-MEL (Similar to the SYD-DPS-SYD service)
Anyone heard this?
First QantasLink F-100 painted:
New scheme is growing on me!
1x of the freed up A380s will pretty much be used to fund the planned A380 cabin refurbs.
The other one will probably do the daily SYD-HKG-SYD replacing the B744.
The HKG switch and B789s doing the QF95/QF96 will allow both older B744s OJM/OEB to be retired.
I think they are pretty much out of options… *Air NZ must have known and have walked away - EY and SQ seem to be running out of patience *VA announced they will serve PEK and HKG but nothing has happened - in fact QF have now beaten them to PEK *Oil prices are starting to rise *QF/AA will no doubt a...Jump to post
The negotiations include combining QFs international and domestic ops under one roof in Perth.
So the connection "nightmare" won't exist.
To add to the above QF are also adding:
*Daily BNE-POM-BNE starting Oct 2016
*Daily MEL-CHC-MEL starting Dec 2016
*BNE-CHC-BNE increasing to daily from Oct 2016
*Seasonal SYD-DPS-SYD will run all the way to March 2017
*SYD-AKL-SYD will see A330s replacing B73Hs during DEC-JAN holidays
QF currently codeshare on Jet Airways services to New Delhi and Mumbai. These flights connect nicely with QF flights via SIN.
