Re: What has been the secret to Jet2's success?

Jet 2 and Jet 2 Holidays are agent supportive and friendly, so they have a feed of thousands of travel professionals selling their services. And I really hope they consider a MAN - LGW feeder service again. Yes, they've always been willing to work with agents. Don't forget that lots of leisure airl...

Re: What has been the secret to Jet2's success?

As far as I am aware it was a Southern UK based cargo airline originally, that rebranded itself as friendly low fares for the North. Didn't Globespan try a similar model for Scotland that went horribly wrong? In my opinion Globespan went bonkers! They started up a lots of 'interesting' transatlanti...

Re: What has been the secret to Jet2's success?

I can think of lots of possible reasons why they have done so well; -They had a first mover advantage in places like Manchester and Leeds-Bradford and got there before easyJet, Ryanair et al. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Manchester had a proper based LCC before Jet2? They built up the b...

Re: Why this boom at Birmingham (BHX)? (32 new routes)

I suspect most of the growth at Birmingham is due to Jet2 and the response from its competitors. For outbound tourists from the UK to the beaches they offer a different proposition to Ryanair and Norwegian in that they sell many of their seats as part of Jet2Holidays, which are full escorted tour pa...

There's been some disruption to the rail services where I am, but the airports seem fine. The UK really doesn't cope well with "extreme" heat or cold, the cities tend to struggle to reach 25C in the summer months unlike some in continental Europe (especially Central and Southern Europe).

Re: Where's LGW-FRA?

If Lufthansa can't make the route work, then I don't see anyone else managing it. There is no Eurowings operation out of FRA. LGW really lacks European legacies, there's no Lufthansa, Austrian, KLM, SAS, SN Brussels, Air France, Alitalia, LOT or CSA. I think the only new airline in recent years that...

It's not just at BCN, my outbound LTN-ZRH flight (which should have been the inaugural service on the route) was cancelled due to "shortages". Fortunately, I noticed the email quickly and managed to rebook myself on the easyJet flight two hours later which had only a few seats remaining. T...

Aside from any airline on a blacklist of some sort, I fly all airlines. If there's one airline I'm keen to avoid in future it's Vueling. I've had two cancelled flights with them this summer, a six hour delay, a missing refund and a customer service centre that offers ridiculous rebooking options (e....
