I don't have any specific information, but I would guess not anytime soon. The decision to change the livery was a matter of timing. Changing now will save money because of the number of aircraft to be delivered (meaning <acronym title="Northwest Airlines (USA)">NW</acronym> won't have to paint them...Jump to post
I do believe that is a bassinet for a small child. Normally, you have bassinets at only the bulkhead seats, however some airlines ( I BELIEVE) also have available bassinets that hang from the overhead bins in the last row of particular sections (so as to not block the video screen view for passenger...Jump to post
Well I think it looks a heck of a lot better in these new photos. I think a lot of the negative reaction is due to the fact that the 753 is a relatively awkward looking aircraft for this scheme. It's extremely long, but thin, and since there is relaitvely little going on with the new scheme it looks...Jump to post
Erik in <acronym title="Minneapolis / St. Paul - International / Wold Chamberlain Field (MSP / KMSP), USA - Minnesota">MSP</acronym> Please see the 900 other posts on how the new livery is NOT costing <acronym title="Northwest Airlines (USA)">NW</acronym> additional money, rather saving 3% to 5% per...Jump to post
Ok, for the 900th time... 1. All airplanes have to be painted or have a protective coating on them. 2. <acronym title="Northwest Airlines (USA)">NW</acronym> is only repainting planes as they normally would be re-painted (in really simple terms, when an airplane goes in to be repainted, meaning it's...Jump to post
Ok, I'm going to chime in again. Based on that photo, it's not great, but I think we still have to wait to see it in person. When I first saw the <acronym title="Virgin Atlantic Airways (United Kingdom)">VS</acronym> scheme I hated it, but then when I saw it up close, I loved it. I still think that ...Jump to post
I'm going to wait until I see it in person. I'm hoping they say that the compass isn't supposed to point to the North West rather up and ahead, otherwise aircraft right should read NEA. Also I think the fuselage is silver, but the lighting in the photo (I'm really hoping) was bad. Crossing my finger...Jump to post
Ok, I can deal with it, but here's my extremely poor attempt at making it a little better...
Dear Lord I hope not... The front is ok, but NWA is not something Northwest is known as. It's not like Federal Express putting FedEx on their planes in HUGE lettering. Aside from that, getting rid of their current logo would cost a lot of money in signage and uniforms. Now if the tail had the curren...Jump to post
Ryefly, That's what I thought. I'm just wondering if it looks something like the one you designed. On a crew forum someone heard on the <acronym title="VASP (Brazil)">VP</acronym>'s describe it as the 'Rome's on Fire' scheme which immediately brought to mind the scheme you did. At any rate, I'm very...Jump to post
That sounds a lot like the one from Lila Design
Is it similar?
I think that is alarmist personally. I think a war, or quick military action as it's more likely to be might cause the loss of weaker airlines, which will only strengthen the industry by reducing capacity. This is much like the Gulf War in the early 90's. Before the war, the economy suffered due to ...Jump to post
How about this? If you think same sex domestic partnership benefits are wrong, unfair, or special; why don't you write or call your representative and LEGALIZE SAME SEX MARRIAGES? By doing so we can have our loving relationships and be recognized legally, do away with same sex domestic partnerships ...Jump to post
Personally, my BOYFRIEND and I do believe the propoganda. If we convert 3 more heterosexuals, we get a 36" Color <acronym title="Virgin Express (Belgium)">TV</acronym> as well as 100,000 WorldPerk miles! Meanwhile, back here in reality... <acronym title="Northwest Airlines (USA)">NW</acronym> also o...Jump to post
That actually wasn't a BN livery. It was done by Airbus since BN hadn't decided on their new livery.
No one at BN liked that scheme, and most refered to it as the 3ranff scheme.
Just to throw in my two cents... I'm not knocking WN, they are a fantastic carrier. I also do not think they are going to match any of these ammenities. There's no need to. Their flights are usually too short to enjoy any of those items. Now, I personally try to avoid flying WN because I would much ...Jump to post
I can't speak for the other airlines since they don't have the PW's, but man let me tell you that plane is a rocket!
Not only that's it's very. very quiet! The aisles seem narrower to me, but that also might be an optical illusion. Other than that I think the plane is fantastic personally.
You are correct in the fact they do not server Champagne / Sparking wine domestically, however the wine selection for international flights is the same that is available domestically in FC.
FYI: Northwest was rated the Number 2 "Wine Cellar in the Sky" of all International Airlines. I cannot recall who was number 1, Finnair sticks out in my mind for some reason, nor do I remember the source, but there was a post about it on here quite some time ago. The poll was of most large internati...Jump to post
Vermeer Darling, What exactly do you mean by little flame? j/k I personally don't believe any airline owes you a meal regardless of what you paid for your ticket, unless the flight is long. In my estimation, 4 hours or less is not a long time. As far as how much you shell out for your ticket, welcom...Jump to post
Please explain to me how offering a decent meal for sale on a flight that would otherwise not have any food offered hurt Northwest. Would you rather hear, "I'm sorry I don't have anything to offer you but pretzels on this 1 hour flight." or "I have a turkey sandwich, artichoke heart / tomato / mozza...Jump to post
Jwenting, I think you have a valid point, but there is going to be as much food made as there used to be. First come the test flights to see how much they will sell, then they will stock appropriately. Also, all of the articles do state that this isn't going to be the typical airline food. This is a...Jump to post
Chill out! You don't have to pay for the food if you don't want to. Also this isn't JUST a sandwich, please see the attached link to the actual products to be sold. Personally, my attitude towards the TSA has changed a lot. When they first took over, I hated it. Wait times were very long, and the screeners seemed to not know what they were doing. After having flown a lot recently, I have found that they are much more pleasant and professional than the old scree...Jump to post
I have to pay for every flight I take on NW. I always have. Personally, I would rather pay the $98 r/t between DTW and LAX to fly standby than pay full fare. If it were free I wouldn't complain, but what I pay versus fair market value is a steal. All the complaining to me seems greedy, which if I am...Jump to post
I don't want to sound harsh, but UAL closing shop will only help the rest of the US Airline Industry. With the amount of routes that the other airlines will have to pick up, it's going to help them return to profitablity.
CO has it right, let competition weed out the weak ones.
So far I like it. I find that the fare are fairly on par with Orbitz / Travelocity. One thing that I would like to see is the ability to search different airports for one city. A great example is London. Orbitz and Travelocity allow you to search all London airports, however this doesn't. In looking...Jump to post
UALPHLCS, While I understand the safety aspect of the arguement, I look at E-Tickets as a convenience. It is no longer convenient, rather highly inconvenient to have to go to an airport or CTO to show my CC. It discourages me from buying a ticket on UA. I don't want a paper ticket, I don't want to c...Jump to post
And perhaps we have a reason that UAL Corp is losing near $1 billion USD a quarter. If I buy someone a gift certificate a let's say Godiva for $300, am I going to have to walk into a store with the recipient to show them my credit card? So, in order to spend money on a United Airlines ticket as a gi...Jump to post
Really must suck when someone buys you a ticket as a gift. Like say as a wedding present for a couple, or a birthday gift, or... well you get the picture. I can appreciate the security, but at the same time it's a hassle. I don't travel with all of my credit cards, and I would not be happy if I got ...Jump to post
727LOVER, Jeff CHowderhead appointed Bill McGee and a bunch of other loose cannons from Piedmont to ru(i)n the airline. After looking at the experimental 757 and the proposed design, I'm starting to see somethings I like. I would like to see a thin blue stripe between the grey and the white, but I can live without. What would make the proposed look better would be a large compass logo on the side of the fuselage as o...Jump to post

AA-STL, I think the chances of NW moving ops from MEM to STL are about zero. While NW isn't suffering as much as other airlines, they are not going to take on the cost of moving an entire hub. Aside from just moving the planes, you're looking at all the signage, employees, vehicles, not to mention t...Jump to post
I think taxes are a very good reason to live, or not live somewhere.
I think I pay too much in taxes (6% sales tax and income, FICA and state taxes about 26-29%).
A friend of mine in Sweden pays 40% of his salary in taxes every year. I find that totally unacceptable.
