RE: Northwest Replacement Workers Almost Ready

The fact of the matter is this. Northwest is doing what it needs to do to survive. If that means hiring replacement workers, so be it. The unions have a choice to work or not to work. If they vote to strike, it is not the fault of NWA. The company has so much money to pay its employees, and that's t...

I think it's more than appropriate for anyone to pray, however I don't think it's appropriate to be trying to preach to people in a setting like an airplane. I think this is a scare tactic to the airline. At this point I still doubt that the union will strike. With the union already backing down from their stance of not giving any paycuts, to suddenly offering 16% is a sign that they are going to break. I believe this vote is to give the union a negotiat...

Personally I love how Democrats are outraged at the fact that a Republican made fun of them. That's an outrage! But when a Democrat slanders his country and the men and women who serve it while on the Senate floor, on the record, that's passion. So make a comment about the other party wanting to win...

That article absolutely infuriates me. It spells out what a leach UAL is on the US airline industry. The fact of the matter here is that United probably isn't going to be saved by its employees. As a result, they can keep their fares lower since t...

RE: NW's Contract With DTW Concerning New Terminal

NW is hardly a "bad guy" in this. They made a smart business decision. Remember, NW is in business not to be nice to all the other airlines, but to MAKE MONEY. Any other airline would have done this if they could. <acronym title="Northwest Airlines...

RE: NW D10 C Class?

I've done World Business Class on both the 333 and D10. The D10 was from BOM - AMS and I found the seats to be fine. You don't have the massage and all the extra jazz on the 333, but I agree the seat was more comfortable. Food...

RE: What Does Y, J & P Stand For?

I remember hearing that Y got its start with Pan Am. Y was for Yankee class. Whether that is an urban legend or not, I do not know.

RE: DTW North Terminal Update

AAAAAAHHHHHHH! Ok, I have to vent. It's either the Northwest WorldGateway, the McNamara Terminal or the Northwest WorldGateway at the McNamara Terminal. Not worldport. It was originally going to be called (by Northwest) the WorldTerminal. Thank you. I feel better now! <img src="/discussions/gr...

RE: The $6 Billion 7E7 Subsidies, Justified?

Ushermittwoch, Some people don't like big government, myself included. That doesn't mean that I / we don't like government. I think the point of the post you quote was to say that most people, here in the US and abroad, have foolishly accepted the fact that they don't have control over a large porti...

RE: The $6 Billion 7E7 Subsidies, Justified?

NoUFO, I am confused to what your statement "Braniff727, then how come the WTO ruled the tax break is an unfair subsidy that does not fall within free trade rules?" refers to. Was it a previous post? Sorry, I'm starting to get confused between this post and other things I'm doing at the moment. At a...

RE: The $6 Billion 7E7 Subsidies, Justified?

No UFO, "One could argue the authorities have the right to collect taxes to fund services citizens enjoy. But this is totally irrelevant. Boeing received a tax break, other companies did not. Such a tax break is a subsidy in disguise and nothing else." First, one could, but then one could also argue...
