Bali is already pretty much full. Actually, the Indonesian government doesn't want mass tourism to DPS - the idea has always been (since the 1970s at least) for Bali to be 4-5 star tourist destination.

Almost all T500 are on PBH contracts. Almost all B744 engines are owned by the airline. So as you retire B744, you swap the engines around to get every hour of life from them without sending them to overhaul.

Whereas on a A346, you are paying for every hour you fly

But the rise in LCC does show that many pax want safe, on time, transport. Not a restaurant in the sky. Heck, even for the legacy airlines, 90% of passengers are in economy, showing that most pax don't want to pay for the extra comfort of Business or First.

Seems all very sensible to me. Three pricing tiers is much much simpler than the old rules (Saturday night stays, validity ofx months, advance purchase etc etc)

Thrust reversers are called "insurance" items and would not fall under an engine maintenance deal. Insurance items are things like nose cowls, leading edge flaps, thrust reversers etc that tend to break from things hitting them, rather from wear and tear.

There are many types of cargo that you can't carry in belly space (eg lithium batteries) as risk of fire is too high. You can't carry them on on a combi either.

Killing a couple of pilots is seen as acceptable risk (UPS crash) killing a couple hundred passengers not so much

Not a particularly good business, but not bad either. He's "parking" money in high quality assets, but at quite low yields, but still better than having money in the bank.

He isn't (apart from MRJ) buying new, he is buying aircraft that have already flying, with decent leases attached
