I think the delaying of the retirement of the 747 would rest on LH, CA or KE since they operate the 748 and those arte still pretty young even compared to QFs 744ERs. Their CA strategy was to buy VX, hold the FFs captive and use QX for p2p flying. Versus WN growing organically within the co straints of a single fleet type and UAs hubs in LAX and SFO.

I'd love to see numbers comparing AS WN and UA in California.

The VC25 is an extremely modified 747. All of the mods add tons of weight like communication equipment, bulletproofing, emp proofing, defensive countermeasures, on board medical facility, the spare parts it carries in the belly, etc..

It looks like S7 flies Vladivostok-NRT and is the only one on that route, theres probably some room there for NH. I wonder if Moscow will be served from HND; is that possible under the Russia/Japan bilateral?

While the A350 is a fantastic airplane and would make a great 772 replacement for UA, I'm in no hurry to see the sCO GE-powered frames leave.

Part of me is also in the camp UA will use the deposits to switch to the A321LR or even the A220. But I know it won't happen :(

He's flown it in to Love Field also. I'd imagine the 757 is much less expensive to operate than the VC25.
