I am worried this will get more Katrina-like once people get out of the moment and into the recriminations stage. If Houston manages to shelter tens to hundreds of thousands of people without things boiling over because people feel like their basic needs are not being attended to... bully for Housto...Jump to post
What kind of delays is this causing for IAH? Will it shut the airport down? I was listening to a report that stated Houston is flood prone. What was the storm that flooded some NY airports? Also, I hope this discussion doesn't get moved to a non Civil Aviation forum. It is a very valid discussion f...Jump to post
Remember that in the end, Singapore's ULH a345s were configured with no economy seats. So it is actually possible that worrying about people in economy seats... doesn't apply. Maybe Y+.Jump to post

Seems to be a nice image showing the plane heading into the wind. Probably wasn't a crosswind.
The V-22, which will be used for COD, has the capability to be a tanker.
A drone would likely expand capabilities and might save deck space. I see the ROI there.
What other airports impose an actual curfew rather than a latest/earliest limit on schedules? I have arrived at 2am rather than 11pm on certain flights... beats a night on the floor.Jump to post
I don't question that there will be some segment of the local population willing to pay the premium to fly out of PAE The smart ones will factor in the cost of parking, and if PAE is smart, they'll keep parking costs low. I never thought Seatac was that tough to get to but it sucked parking off air...Jump to post
Cool thanks. Sounds like only A340-600 had this option activated. Someone has any exemple of Airline operating A330s with lower deck lavatories? http://www.airliners.net/photo/MyTravel-Airways/Airbus-A330-243/784979/L MyTravel/AirTours based on some prior comments here: http://www.airliners.net/for...Jump to post
I believe it was in the Michael Creighton book, Airframe, where a plane either lost control or lined up on a taxiway (I believe the former) and the pilot of the plane holding short saw it coming and tried to spool up his engines and move the plane but it took too long and the landing aircraft struc...Jump to post
This has everything to do with the E190 group 1 pay scale where the captains make less then and group 2 FOs on 73s/A32s. The deal between both TW/AA pilots were in place long before the AA/US merger. The deal was when a specific TW pilot is eligible for the upgrade he must take it. He was waiting t...Jump to post
Actually, the "aged" FA's usually provide better service and don't bitch as much as the middle aged ones going through a mid-life crisis and take it out on passengers. In my many years/flights with the regionals, AA, DL, US, NK, B6, WN, and VX, the "more seniored" FA's and the n...Jump to post
The cost of this incident is sunk.
The cost of terminating the employee, litigating it, dealing with union protests or whatever... might be more trouble than it is worth to just keep the employee.
It's not like there's value for shareholders in being punitive here. What a mess, though.
The sole-source vendor is dumb if they kill this revenue stream from DL because they get too greedy. I still sort of see this as DL signalling to that vendor its willingness to walk away from the type entirely. Unless the vendor is so busy it doesn't want this work. But that seems odd too. Overall w...Jump to post
With the Saudi planes mothballed you'd think Delta could manage to work out a reasonable deal for engine spares. Maybe that's in the works and this just shows the current owner their willingness to find spares from their own planes if the price isn't right.Jump to post
I can see why B is launching the 737 Max-10 now and taking firm orders. There is nothing else to show...This MoM or 797 is still in the Power-Point slides stage of development. And a pretty picture: https://leehamnews-5389.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/MAX-10.png I like its proportions better than the -9. Why does Norway want this capability? What are the numbers on how much shorter the runway can be?Jump to post
Actually the US Air 737-400 incident is why they demo seat belts the way they are now. Autopsies showed passengers in First Class had broken fingers while still seated, meaning they were pushing DOWN on the buckle to release, not lift up. The deaths were in row 21, and there's nothing about that he...Jump to post
Hi all, anyone aware of BBD flight testing or customer-related flights through BTV? I can see the approach out my office window and there's an all-white plane that could be a CS300 (I never catch a look at the nose) doing frequent approaches today and recently. There's a BBA callsign today on flight...Jump to post
I'm not a lawyer, but Gorsuch voted to hear a case here, not decide on one. This seems commensurate with his declining to join the pool of clerks which does the gatekeeping for the court. He ignored the consensus and voted to hear this case.Jump to post
Outsourcing gate staff.
I have had consistently bad experiences transferring from mainline to regional. It's abundantly clear that the outsourced CSAs at the regional gates don't give a shit about any customer satisfaction metrics.
Reinforced today in EWR terminal A.
Is there a max passenger threshold over which Boeing has to redo the emergency evacuation test/drill? The one-class config in the 777-9X looks to be in the high 400s. Would it be legal?
I guess the same question goes for the 737-10.
I as flight crew am tired of some passengers thinking they are above the law towards crew. *customers. Really? Is "passengers" inappropriate or offensive to you? Yeesh No, the words passengers isn't offensive. Calling them customers really steamed a bunch of people though, which is telling.Jump to post

The airline industry has been treating their customers so poorly for so long, they had become numb to it and probably didn't even realize it. That is why Oscar didn't make a statement like this initially, that is why the gate agent allowed the pax to be removed, and why the crew asked the pax to to...Jump to post

The gate agent was doing her job. She was following the rules set forth by the company who gives her a paycheck. Sorry , was not clear. I was in paid F Subu So if you weren't standby, how is this relevant to the discussion?
