German embassy and business traffic alone will not sustain this LH SJO flight. And there are very few connection opportunities (like in PTY). This flight is about tourism, plain and simple. And for that they will be going head to head with DE, Who is running a one stop. I give DE 6 months before the...
Jump to postDE is going to be in real trouble at SJO (since it has a SDQ stopover) against LH.
Perhaps they should consider moving the tag to GUA or CTG where there is less competition
How are Volaris doing on SJO-CUN and GUA-CUN. I have heard anecdotally that the flights are hit and miss LF wise.
Jump to postI apologise if this has been asked before but has it been confirmed that China Airlines will get 5th freedom on IAH-PTY and will CM put its code on the flight?
Jump to postIn my opinion, this proves that the A319 is a reliable aircraft even after its main use. The A319 is unique because it has the right kind of fit in long and thin markets as well as short and large markets. Take BOS-NYC on the 319, short length and large market. Take AA's IND-LAX flight, not a terri...
Jump to postKL AMS-PTY 7x weekly, 772 all the way. No more 772 [5x weekly] plus 77W [2x weekly]. Effective: October 28. AV SAL-BZE 7x weekly, AT7 all the way. No more 320s. 4O MEX-SJO 14x weekly, 320 all the way. No more Sukhoi SuperJet 100. on KL @ PTY .....KL's SJO-AMS is probably hurting this flight a littl...
Jump to postThanks Enilria! Seems AA wants to expand in Portland. The CLT has been a tad under 2 in summers past but the 2 extra ORD flights are new right? Sad to see AA cut Bolivia (and subject it to the 7M8) but I suppose LA/LP Lima connections will Be available for those who need them. I wonder how much mar...
Jump to postHow many gates will the new MEX have and how does that compare with the current MEX? I would say they would need to increase gate space by at least 50% from current.
Jump to postThenoflyzone wrote:As for CUN, it's self explanatory.
I would really hope that CM gets the E2 or the C Series. While I can appreciate the desire ton only have one type of aircraft, they do need something a bit smaller in Capacity to use on their smaller markets. The C Series is perfect.

The FLL BZE, HOU LIR et al reductions are for the sept oct period only if would seem. Expect them all the return to full strength in nov.
Jump to postKL, LH, and AF is SJO is also about connections to the Far East, India and russia. Something IB was not strong at. the Chinese, Japanese, And Indian traffic (tourism and diaspora) should not be underestimated. Many are eager to avoid the visa needed for transit in the USA.
Jump to postIt would appear that air China has been granted 5th freedom on IAH PTY.
Can anyone confirm?
dominicl316 wrote:I know this is a long shot, but could B6 do well on a SJU-SVD with their E190? Considering the connecting opportunities out of SJU, any reason why this wouldn't be a good idea?
If the business plan for CM in BGI is only about getting tourists to BGI the route would never have been announced. This is about a mix of traffic with Business traffic as it’s backbone.
Jump to postmy bets would be PBM and CWB in Latin America or AUS and PHL in North America....outside chances on UVF, RDU and SLA.
Jump to postI have also heard the AV route was not performing so poorly either but the extra 2 hours required to avoid Venezuelan airspace made rendered made it inviable. If the prices are competitive to make PTY a MIA shopping alternative then yes Bajans would give it a go but as it stands the fares from BGI ...
Jump to postAccording to the news here in BGI it will be a 2 times a week service operated by the E190 lets see if this route works. It should and it should build. at 2 X weekly it is not very attractive to business travellers. Going to SJO from BGI for example might still be better via MIA. However once shopp...
Jump to postPBM is the next logical choice and is definitely an underserved market that could use some connectivity.
Jump to postHow many countries does CM have left in the Americas to fly to?
Suriname and some of the smaller Caribbean islands are all I can think of. CM will need some more E190s if it intends to start doing SKB, DOM etc.
you beat me to it Kligen, I don't see any mention of frequencies though. perhaps 2 or 3 X E190
Jump to postI was already having withdrawals from a Sunday morning without the new OAG thread. My fix is now complete.
Thanks Enlira!
One HUGE bug is http://www.southwest.com will not work from overseas IP addresses. So when I book travel to the states I can't book additional flights on Southwest unless I use a VPN to alter my IP address.... just nuts. It does from some and should from all but if for some reason your IP is blackl...

I think the new Cessna prop replaces the 20 seater no?
while I don' think a DOH-SAL flight is imminent, SAL is a good a place in any in Central America to fly into for QR if they wanted to take a gamble. they could partner with AV for access to its SAL hub, and SAL (and nearby cities such as GUA) are not small at all. All have decent manufacturing and i...

Jump to postso 4 carriers on SoFla to GCM now..KX, WN, AA and B6. its going to be a fight.
Jump to postCan ET's 777/787 make it ADD-SCL without restrictions? Might a way to one up EK.
Jump to postFort Lauderdale - Panama / Guatemala City / Belize City / Managua (any of those) would be nice to fill in their gaps in Central America. Granted NK and WN are already on some of those, but then again WN is on FLL-GCM too.
Jump to postI find it interesting that LATAM has not expanded more into Central America and Mexico in general.
Jump to postI find it hard to believe VS will start PTY. They are very short on aircraft right now and their focus is on N. America and (to a lesser extent) Caribbean ops that they can fly from LGW. PTY needs to be a LHR destination.
Jump to posta bit of information on the UX flight to GUA. It will basically be a tag on to the SAP flight. The possible UX MAD-SAP-GUA doesn't seem to be competitive against the non-stop service IB MAD-GUA-SAL-MAD for those passengers boarding in Guatemala City. Furthermore, their weekly frequencies would hard...

IB had DC9s/319s flying MIA-SAP/PTY/GUA/SJO/SAL and MGA IIRC. They were timed to connect to / from MIA-MAD flights. The change of the intransitive procedures put an end to these flights
As we look back must have been horrible utilization on those aircraft and probably never made any money
AV already flies to IAH. From SAL
Jump to postRe: BGI IMHO it is all about risk versus more known opportunities elsewhere. I don’t think it would be a miracle but it’s probably at lot lower on the list than say extra frequencies to existing ejet destinations. This is the question for BGI. How do you fill 95 seats a week? Can business traffic to...

Jump to postCA hypothetical PEK IAH PTY makes no sense. The point of the PTY flight is to avoid US transit restrictions and routing via IAH negates that. Would be better off going via CUN or YVR.
Perhaps though this is a government induced flight. Chinese business ties to the ithmus are growing rapidly.
