Yesterday GOL's PR-XMA did a corporate flight with the airlines executives and their famlies from CGH (GOL HQ) to CNF (maintenance hub) and back. Next week they are planning a flight with journalist and brazilian aviation authorities. Pic and text (portuguese only): https://www.panrotas.com.br/aviac...
Jump to postHi everyone, I was wondering what are some of the special liveries airlines painted on their aircraft to honor its employees. I can remember most recently Delta "Thank You" jet to celebrate amazing profits. I also remember TAM painting a couple of aircraft covered with employees signatures...
Jump to postA bit off topic but I visit Brazil once a year and I have noticed that airlines in that country have many domestic flights that leave after 12 AM and arrive before 5 am. Exactly. We have a large amount of red-eyes from our southern hubs in GRU, VCP, GIG, BSB to North and Northeast (cities such as S...

For me the largest issue with AF on Premium Class is communality. Service is great on C and excelent on their new amazing F. However many destinations and acft are fitted with the old product (C mainly). For non-avgeeks or travel blogger-followers it is difficult to know what product are you buying....

Jump to postWhat "capacity" is that? ASM? Seats? Departures?
Jump to postThat is the most hard time for Brazilian aviation since the country's economic crisis back in few years ago. Things are relatively looking good for Azul and GOL, both reporting growing LF and yields, while adding capacity. Thanks to the improving economy scenario and capacity discipline they had du...
Jump to postUnfortunatelly Azul is suspending flights from Porto Alegre to Cordoba and Rosario. Flights already zeroed out from S19 (late March/19).
AD will keep weekly flights on weekends on route REC-COR/ROS, targeting tourists from Argentina.
Service from Rio to North America will be limited to 3 daily: AA GIG-MIA, DL GIG-ATL, UA GIG-IAH. What a pitty!
Jump to postupperdeckfan wrote:Interesting how large EZE-MAD is when compared against EZE-BCN
Considering the larger Argentinian community in catalan provinces I would've expected AR to start BCN instead of increase MAD. Much less competition and strong VFR traffic
Thinking about 20-30 years down the road, with what they will replace A380 while mantaining lower CASM than competitors?
Jump to postThe departure at 1000 matches their departure times between 1000-1100 to BOS MIA EWR; TP has a few flights from southern Europe arriving in LIS between 700-800a, so they are trying to build some flow traffic. BOS, MIA and EWR are well established routes. Departure at 1300 would have allowed connect...

I wonder how this could effect the merger between AV Holdings and AV Brasil, I had also heard of AV Brasil joining the United/AV JV so that could either be really good or really bad for the Brazilian airline I think medium term sustentabilty of O6 (Avianca Brasil) is what have been keeping AV away ...

They'll need to work harder to bring fares down on Europe-Brazil corridor.
Just bought GRU-AMS-GRU on LX departing in March and paid 460 USD round-trip on coach with meal, miles, reserved seats + 2 checked bags (Business ticket was 1.600 USD!)
Seasonality apart, fares to Deep South America are also higher because they are more expensive to airline operate. DL, for instance, allocate 2 shells to fly 1 daily ATL-EZE-ATL. 2 shells could fly 2 daily to Europe and generate more revenue overall. So it makes sense to charge more on a more expens...
Jump to postSo, should we change title from "How is Air Europa doing?" to "What do you think about Air Europa"?
Is there any fact about its financial performance anyone can share (thanks mercure1) other than personal tastes and experiences?
Summer is slow season in demand in Southern Hemisphere comparing to Northern Hemisphere.
They are just adjusting seasonal capacity. Bet they'll fly non-stop to EZE again in Winter if Argentina economy don't collapse until then (hopefully it won't).
I also believe consolidation is not something we will strongly see in Asia in the next 10-15 years due to economic and populatioinal growth coupled with cultural and protectional policies.I bet we'll continue to see more franchising style growth though. But I'm always amused at how the network of JL...
Jump to postWas the A333 that flew in yesterday painted in the new livery? Jump to postIt is very important to large companies to embrace environmental policies, even if they look like a small thing at first.

They never had problem with loads, average of 88% for JAN-AUG 2018.
Market is heavily BR point of sale and the lower than expected recovery of Brazilian economy, BRL devaluation and higher fuel costs lead DL to use these aircrafts elsewhere.
I could see a seasonal YVR - AKL service in a JV with NZ, to top-up NZ's NW capacity on the route. AKL would tie-in well with AC's Asia-Pacific strategy, being its largest unserved Australasian city (after SYD, MEL and BNE), and given the success of these flights (e.g. MEL now going year-round). Will be interesting to see whether AM or DL introduce any connectivity with or codesharing on this new flight. AM probably will. They already code-share with GOL out of GRU to feed their MEX flights. I wouldn't be surprised to see G3 eventually code-sharing on AM's CUN-MEX/MTY/GDL. DL is code-shari...

bhxdtw wrote:What is the draw of Pune in terms of business traffic? What is the economy made of and why does LH in particular serve the route?
Its an interesting route.
Probably ships. Cargos and/or fishing. The red and green lights are for navigation.
Oil rigs can be spoted due to flames, not navigation lights.
OTOH their regular economy class was "upgraded" to Economy Extra with 24 seats and the "Main Cabin", AKA economy class was dowgraded, as it loses the PTV and get a tablet holder for entertainment.

GRU-MCO on DL went from red-eyes both-ways to daylight northbound during S19. It means DL invested 2 planes (low J 763) on the route, now will need 1.
It seems on of the planes now will fly this new route.
What does all this matter if they keep the same horses as FA? I mean, in the Brazilian division TAM. Intl FA for JJ is either hit or miss. In my opinion they make or break the experience of a flight. Their flights to Brazil are full of people connecting to Europe and are usually the cheapest option close to departure. Guess they'll target the same market (1 stop to Europe) from MIA.
No.
Each airline is free to choose the space and classes it will offer to its costumer.
Costumers can choose more spacious airlines, seats, or different classes for their convenience.
Why they are starting service with an A350-1000? Wouldn't it make more sense to begin with an A359?

Brazil's airfares are dirty cheap on main routes. Meals onboard have always been deregulated and luggage can be sold apart f...
