I looked on Travelocity.com and after Allegiant Air drops their MSY-JAX service that leaves no more non stop or direct service between the two cites.Southwest use to fly the route but dropped it a few years ago. Couldn't Silver Airways or Glo Airlines look into serving the route but it would be with...Jump to post
Agreed that this would be a decent market for GLO to try. It would fit the niche they are trying to fill nicely. I was a surprised when G4 announced this route, and less surprised to see it go. I wouldn't be shocked to see more north-south routes added from MSY since CVG, PIT, etc. are doing well e...Jump to post
We all know no MD-80s will be repainted. My question is will there be some Boeing 757s and Boeing 767-300ER that will not get new paint since they are slowly approaching retirement. What American Eagle planes will not be repainted. I hope the retro Boeing 737-800 will keep its retro livery.Jump to post

Not much service at Youngstown Ohio today.Alegiant Air serves YNG with routes to MYR,PIE and SFB. Another airline Great Lakes Jet Express started YNG-ORD what happened to that route,United has talked about adding smaller towns YNG could be one of them.YNG is located between PIT and CAK,Back in the 1...Jump to post
I know way back when they flew one DEN-BNA. I suspect they thought they needed it for hot and high out of DEN. I don't know if that is why they were acquired, but that is how they were sometimes used. Did PI ever fly it to EYW? Yes they did starting in 1984 There was the Piedmont Florida Shuttle op...Jump to post
Piedmont Airlines operated the Boeing 727-100 from 1967-1968 and from 1977-1983.In 1967 how many 727s did Piedmont acquire. One of them crashed while on takeoff at Ashville in 1967 that was flight 22 to Roanoke,I heard Piedmont was not really interested in the Boeing 727 and got them while they were ...Jump to post
I came across a map on departedflights.com of Mackey International for November 15 1979. It shows Mackey has scaled back in the Bahamas and only served Nassau,Freeport,Treasure Cay and Marsh Harbor. No longer served other islands like Bimini and no more Grand Turk. What I never knew is that Mackey add...Jump to post
Its not SW Airlines, its Southwest. Back then it was a regional name and now its a national and to a certain extent an almost international name. It won't be changed, nor should it be. Southwest Airlines started in the late 1960s-early 1970s as a intra state carrier in Texas flying from Houston Hobby to Dallas Love Field. After Deregulation Southwest has expanded.Today Southwest is in all 4 corners of the United States in addition to some international destinations and soon to ser...Jump to post
I have noticed when AA retires a plane once it gets to the desert like Rosewell the red stripe is always painted blue.
I have seen that on their 727s,DC-10s,767s,757s,Fokker F100s, and now their MD-80s.
When AA parked their 707s in the early 1980s the red stripe did not get painted blue it stayed red.
AA has been retireing their MD-80 fleet for the last 3 years with the last of them to be retired by the end of of 2017 maybe early 2018.
So far the ones that have been retired how many got resold and may still fly and how many have been scrapped?
Eastern Airlines retired their DC-8s in 1974.What was their last DC-8 revenue flight and which model of the DC-8.Eastern had a fleet of DC-8-21(non Fan engines) They had a few DC-8-50(fan engines) and stretch DC-8-61 and -63s.Was it the fuel shortage of 1973 that caused Eastern to retire their DC-8s...Jump to post

DAB is apparently courting Silver for service, presumably to South Florida, as evidenced by a passenger survey on their website held earlier this year. Silver was expressly named as one of the "Which airline(s) would you like to see fly to DAB?" options, along with F9, UA, NK, and WS. I t...Jump to post
Silver Airways will be adding flights to numerous destinations in Cuba from Florida. My question is does Siver Airways have enough planes and pilots for this expansion. Will they need to add more planes. Will they be Saab 340s.I would think that there are E-135 and E145 regional jets being retired comi...Jump to post
I flew in a Boeing 733 when I flew Southwest from New Orleans to Columbus Ohio July 23,It was a direct flight with a stop in Nashville. On the way down July 18 I flew in a Boeing 737-700 from CMH-ATL and ATL-MSYJump to post
With American Airlines retireing their MD-80s at a rapid pace,How much longer does Delta plan on keeping their
MD-80s which are close to the same age as American's.After the MD-80s get retired is there much demand for them
on the second hand market or will they all be scrapped.
I was at CMH last month flying American Eagle into LGA (which is almost all E-170, except for 1 flight that day which was on the E-135). While there, I saw everything from AA 737-800, AA A319, MD80, E170, and ERJ-145's. where does the Boeing 737-800 fly to from CMH? I wasn't aware AA had a 737 at C...Jump to post
I live in Columbus Ohio and American Airlnes has operated the MD-80 on the CMH-DFW for a long time and they operated them from CMH-ORD until that route went all American Eagle. National Airlines served Key West until 1970 or 1971.They operated a few Convair twin flights from Miami until the Convairs were retired and then operated one flight a day with a Lockheed Prop Jet Electra til they were retired in 1968 and then it was a Boeing 727-100 until they pulled out around 197...Jump to post
I just looked on timetableimages.com in a Eastern Airlines timetable from 1957 I looked at the Eastern/Braniff interchange flight that went from IDL-DCA-MIA-HAV-PTY and on to South America.Eastern operated the flight to MIA and then a Braniff crew took over for the journey south. Well, according to Wikipedia (I know, I know), Cubana operated charters to MIA for a brief period in the late 70s/early 80s. These apparently came to a halt shortly after Reagan took office. Never heard of those flights but that would explain the picture. Guess you learn something new every day... ...Jump to post
I wondered why United never operated any of their Douglas DC-7s on the routes they acquired from Capital Airlines in the 1961 merger. I see Silver Airways is going to start service to MIA with service to BIM in the Bahamas. Why no Silver Airways to DAB,SRQ or MLB. Or routes to SAV and CHS.
or MSY. They did serve ATL but pulled out. Another question is Is Silver Airways and Glo Airways out of MSY the only carriers flying Saab 340s.
Yes. As I posted in another thread, I see WN starting CVG service in the next 1-2 years. It is a market that is definitely being looked at and probably would have already been added had the slots at LGB along with Cuba not already been added this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see WN move operati...Jump to post
