Was Eastern Airlines the only airline to serve TIX? when did they pull out.TIX was in Brevard County and Eastern also served
nerby Melbourne and Vero Beach.Eastern had limited service to TIX with a few flights.Did any other airline serve TIX.Eastern pulled out of
Vero Beach in 1972.
I am referring to the Air Sunshine in the 1970s that flew from MIA-MTH-EYW and EYW-TPA.was bought out by Air Florida in 1979. My question is I looked at a few route maps from the mid 1970s and saw FLL as a tag on from MIA.How long did Air Sunshine serve FLL and how many flights to FLL.was it with a ...Jump to post
PBA operated numerous aircraft in the 1980s like the DC-3,Martin 404,YS-11,Embraer 110 etc.Later on the airline operated under the Eastern Express banner. The DC-3s operated for Eastern Express,But I am surprised no Martin 404s or other PBA planes did not operate for Eastern Express.I believe PBA fol...Jump to post
Air Sunshine was a carrier that operated Douglas DC-3s and Convair 440s from MIA-MTH-EYW and also EYW-TPA,Air Sunshine served FLL for a short while. In 1979 Air Florida bought Air Sunshine.Did Air Florida operate the DC-3s and Convair 440s for a while.I know none were ever repainted. JFK-SJU in the 1970s had a lot of flights on American,Eastern and Pan Am.Pan Am dropped service to SJU around 1976 and returned in 1980 with the National merger and inherited MIA-SJU then Pan Am dropped that route and returned later.American has operated JFK-SJU for 46 years since they bought Trans ...Jump to post
I hope Silver Airways will add Daytona Beach,Melbourne and more routes in Florida.Their route map shows routes they don't operate like JAX to the Bahamas.Jump to post
I have always wondered why the Boeing 720 was built. It was a smaller cousin to the Boeing 707-120 which was a domestic aircraft while the 707-320 was for overseas flights. What purpose was the Boeing 720 that the 707-120 could not do.Was the 720 built to compete with the Convair 880.I also heard Unit...Jump to post
Eastern was the launch carrier for the Boeing 757 in the early 1980s.After Eastern shut down in 1991 US Air bought the Eastern 757s.How long did they use them.Im sure they left the fleet long before the US Airways/American Merger. Are any still flying maybe converted to cargo or have most been scrapp...Jump to post
Interesting CVG Florida line-ups on DL this coming "Winter Break" period: - 3x/day Orlando A321 (1), MD-80 (2) - 3x/day Fort Meyers MD-80 (3) - 2x/day Tampa MD-80 (2) - 2x/day Fort Lauderdale 738 (1), MD-80 (1) I know its far ahead, but we have not seem more than 1x/day on RSW/TPA/FLL in ...Jump to post
I read in another thread that AA mainline is returning to CVG with flights from CVG-DFW in April with MD-80s for now.I looked at Travelocity.com and it still shows all flights are on American Eagle in April and May.So did AA decide not to bring mainline back to CVG.Jump to post
Routes to Europe from Boston were mostly on Pan Am and TWA.By the mid 1970s Pan Am pulled out of BOS,TWA still had a few flights. After deregulation Braniff started flights from BOS to Europe and were unsuccessful. After they folded in 1982 Northwest started Boston to Europe flights,How long did that ...Jump to post
I looked on Travelocity.com and after Allegiant Air drops their MSY-JAX service that leaves no more non stop or direct service between the two cites.Southwest use to fly the route but dropped it a few years ago. Couldn't Silver Airways or Glo Airlines look into serving the route but it would be with...Jump to post
Agreed that this would be a decent market for GLO to try. It would fit the niche they are trying to fill nicely. I was a surprised when G4 announced this route, and less surprised to see it go. I wouldn't be shocked to see more north-south routes added from MSY since CVG, PIT, etc. are doing well e...Jump to post
We all know no MD-80s will be repainted. My question is will there be some Boeing 757s and Boeing 767-300ER that will not get new paint since they are slowly approaching retirement. What American Eagle planes will not be repainted. I hope the retro Boeing 737-800 will keep its retro livery.Jump to post

Not much service at Youngstown Ohio today.Alegiant Air serves YNG with routes to MYR,PIE and SFB. Another airline Great Lakes Jet Express started YNG-ORD what happened to that route,United has talked about adding smaller towns YNG could be one of them.YNG is located between PIT and CAK,Back in the 1...Jump to post
I know way back when they flew one DEN-BNA. I suspect they thought they needed it for hot and high out of DEN. I don't know if that is why they were acquired, but that is how they were sometimes used. Did PI ever fly it to EYW? Yes they did starting in 1984 There was the Piedmont Florida Shuttle op...Jump to post
Piedmont Airlines operated the Boeing 727-100 from 1967-1968 and from 1977-1983.In 1967 how many 727s did Piedmont acquire. One of them crashed while on takeoff at Ashville in 1967 that was flight 22 to Roanoke,I heard Piedmont was not really interested in the Boeing 727 and got them while they were ...Jump to post
I came across a map on departedflights.com of Mackey International for November 15 1979. It shows Mackey has scaled back in the Bahamas and only served Nassau,Freeport,Treasure Cay and Marsh Harbor. No longer served other islands like Bimini and no more Grand Turk. What I never knew is that Mackey add...Jump to post
Its not SW Airlines, its Southwest. Back then it was a regional name and now its a national and to a certain extent an almost international name. It won't be changed, nor should it be. Southwest Airlines started in the late 1960s-early 1970s as a intra state carrier in Texas flying from Houston Hobby to Dallas Love Field. I have noticed when AA retires a plane once it gets to the desert like Rosewell the red stripe is always painted blue.
I have seen that on their 727s,DC-10s,767s,757s,Fokker F100s, and now their MD-80s.
When AA parked their 707s in the early 1980s the red stripe did not get painted blue it stayed red.
AA has been retireing their MD-80 fleet for the last 3 years with the last of them to be retired by the end of of 2017 maybe early 2018.
So far the ones that have been retired how many got resold and may still fly and how many have been scrapped?
Eastern Airlines retired their DC-8s in 1974.What was their last DC-8 revenue flight and which model of the DC-8.Eastern had a fleet of DC-8-21(non Fan engines) They had a few DC-8-50(fan engines) and stretch DC-8-61 and -63s.Was it the fuel shortage of 1973 that caused Eastern to retire their DC-8s...Jump to post

DAB is apparently courting Silver for service, presumably to South Florida, as evidenced by a passenger survey on their website held earlier this year. Silver was expressly named as one of the "Which airline(s) would you like to see fly to DAB?" options, along with F9, UA, NK, and WS. I t...Jump to post
