In several interviews last week, Airbus' CEO Foregard said that Airbus is in "final" negotiations with British Airways (and LH, Virgin, CX) about the A3XX. I believe BA will go A3XX, not B747X in the future and that they DON'T have time to wait. If they want to be ready to compete with Singapore, Em...Jump to post
But to which airlines does Boeing want to sell its NLA in, say, 2010? All carriers in need for more capacity would have ordered the A3XX by then. The order battle is going on RIGHT NOW, and it seems the A3XX is doing quite well. I think Boeing will at least go ahead with the B747-400X and the B747X ...Jump to post
F4N, I agree with you big time! Those little CFM engines looked a little bit silly on the A340 though. The Trent 500 looks great for sure. Do you know what I first thought as I saw these pics? I thought it was a very good-looking B707 with new engines... Too sad I never experienced a B707! Well, wou...Jump to post
I just can't see an A3XX order by Japanese carriers. They didn't order the A330/A340 too. Maybe ANA if they wants something to differentiate themselves from JAL... I agree with F4N that the B747X freigther has a big potential. From what I read, they might be better suited to many carriers than the A...Jump to post
Hi everybody, well, some new A340-600 fresh out of Toulouse. And what is best about them is that they feature the engines for the first time! <a href="http://www.multimania.com/airbus/340600_271100.htm" target=_blank>http://www.multimania.com/airbus/340600_271100.htm</a> Boy, it just looks fantastic...Jump to post
I completely agree with Udo! I love PTV's since a enjoyed one on a redeye flight from IAD-AMS on UA B777 while being stuck on seat E in coach if you know what that means (2-5-2 layout). Of course we aviation fanatics can survive without a TV, just by staring at the beatiful overhead bins of the B777...Jump to post
Well Gerado, I just fear that a possible tie-up with BA, Alitalia or even Lufthansa (rumored lately) could be reason for yet another change. Lufthansa and Alitalia won't have a blue belly for sure and if the Qualiflier Group breaks up........who knows?? As a sidenote: What is Sabena doing now, the "...Jump to post

I have a nice memory of this particular plane, I had a flight on it in Sept. 99 from LAX-LHR. The aircraft didn't have new World Traveller yet but a very new interior. I also liked the Denmark "Wings" colorsheme, it looked great in the evening sun at LAX. <br><center><a href="/open.file?id=62284" ta...Jump to post
Would be nice if you could quote to back up your claim! What I read is that the A340-500 will have the longest range of any airplane when it comes out. That is correct until the B777-200LR comes out. And the B777-200LR will have the longest range only until the B747X comes out... Regards the WorldTr...Jump to post
Thanks for the info, MattNZ! I agree that the chance for A3XX's in either Ansett's or NZ's fleet are very slim. If they require more capacity in the future, they'll most likely buy some B747X. Any more info about a possible B767-400 or A330 order? I know NZ's is very conservative when it comes to fl...Jump to post
LH headquaters is in fact in Cologne, just across the famous cathedral on the other side of the river Rhine. EyeSky, this is what the caption of the first shot reads:
"D-ALCM (cn 48805/645). After completion, this aircraft will be stored until delivery in 2001. This is the second-to-last MD-11 produced. Currently stored at Boeing Field (BFI), Washington."
LH Cargo currently has 8 MD-11F in its fleet, with several more on order. Lufthansa is very happy with these birds and VERY upset that Boeing will stop production soon. BTW, these LH birds are all brand-new, no conversions. <br><center><a href="/open.file?id=107663" target="_blank"><font color="#EEE...Jump to post

There are some pictures on this site about the incident.
Hmmm, I doubt anybody has more info since it just seems that it has been a simple "hydraulic failure" on the nose gear.
Sorry if that's sounds stupid, but what do you want to have explained?
Your A330-200 flight should be more enjoyable since it offers you PTV's, newer seats etc. (no PTV'S in the MD-11 due to the SR111 crash). I've heard that Swissair's A330-200 is a bit cramped in coach though. Well, would be nice if we can read a trip report comparing the two flights you'll take. Swis...Jump to post

SQ 006 was not the only flight taking off that evening, and it's up to every pilot's decision whether he "dares" a take-off under difficult conditions or not.
Dear Prebennorholm, I got what you're saying, but didn't you get what I was trying to say? Boeing decided that the B737NG and B764 won't get FBW BECAUSE of their "different" philosophy (e.g. meaning that they only do things which really improves a planes profitability and which keep the costs down f...Jump to post
It's horrible, and I believe the pax still unaccounted for are dead. It seems that SIA was trying to downplay the whole crash from the beginning, yet it seems that there are 100 people dead!
