You said you were approaching at 85kts, how long did you hold that? Normal "over the threshold" speed is about 60-65. I usually hold about 65-70 because I am also fearful of getting a gust af wind, and stalling it into the runway from 50 feet up. But 85kts seems mighty fast if thats what you were at...

They paint it like that so it appears that the flag is flying in the wind with the aircraft, so that the star field side is the side that would be attached to the flag pole if hanging on a pole. So if the flag, pole and all, are flying through the air, that is how the flag would fly, backward.

Well, im not an airline pilot, just a Cessna 172 flyer, but I think that engine FAILURES are the most practiced emergencies, not engine fires, although im sure they practice those also. It goes left to right, far left engine is #1, etc... on the 727 the center engine is the #2 engine because it is the second if you count from the left.
