RE: Time To Start Thinking Of An Aviation College.

Don't forget about Western and Eastern Michigan. I can vouch for Eastern, it got me to where I wanted to be very quick (I was out flying a trip in a Learjet when I was supposed to be at graduation <img src="/discussions/graphics/smilies/smile.gif" alt="Smile"> ) and it's a smaller program, thus...

Well that's cool for MWA. I flew a bunch out of there for the US Marshals back in '03 prior to the runway expansion it was a cool airport with a friendly tower. Glad that is working out for them now down there. Sure isn't much to do down there though, lol. I guess now you can go to Vegas easier! Wha...

RE: What Would You Fly Of These 3 Planes?

Yeah, I guess I am in a tough spot. I guess I am leaning towards a Boeing product. I think the DC-9 would just end up being a bigger version of what I am flying now. Plus 3-crew flightdecks are cool. Luckily, although I will find out more tomorrow, I won't have to be an <acronym title="Royal Khmer A...

What Would You Fly Of These 3 Planes?

In the next year or so I am going to be given the opportunity to move onto some heavy iron at my company. It's all freight but the aircraft that I could be FO on are the DC-9-15, the 727-200, or the 747-100/200. Pay is about the same and so is the upgrade and the 747's are scheduled service vs. most...

Questions About Stalling

We practice stalls in the plane when we are doing initial training and doing our recurrent and upgrade checkrides in our jets. The loudest bizjet engine is hands down the CJ610 on the 20 series Lears. Seen a couple violations of 110 dB's, you can get a little better if you do it right Smile Everyone looks up when a Lear takes off.

RE: Which Bizjets Have Autoland?

I can only speak for old bizjets since that is all I have flown. We had a really early serial number Lear 23 that had an autoland buttton on the autopilot. I am pretty sure it didn't work(I never flew it). I have never seen a 20 or 30 series Lear even be able to follow an ILS for very long anyways o...

At Kalitta, we hang them on the compass of our Falcon 20's. I just watched a video from a Lear 24 takeoff I did, 8 seconds to 80 kts, 10 to 100 kts and at 13 seconds from brake release, we were off the ground. The Falcon 20 in comparison, with CF700-2D2 engines, the typical time we monitor on takeoff is usually about 19-20 seconds to 100 knots. When we take ...
