I was looking recently at fares for the PHX-LHR route and I was shocked at how much a one way fare in basic Y was over $3,000 one way, over a month in advance. Any possibility of another airline like Norwegian making a go at a PHX-LGW flight to give a little competition?
Jump to postFrank Borman at Eastern. He was part of the innovative six month evaluation program of the Airbus A300 back in 1977 that pioneered the entry of Airbus into North America and helped propel Airbus into what it is today. Also he was instrumental with the Boeing 757 to which Eastern was the North Americ...

Jump to postHere is an idea. How about an ab-intio program for folks who have no hours but have a lot of experience in the airline and aviation field and are willing to learn. Jump to postI loved watching UA's stretch DC8-71's going in and out from their "banjo" gates at EWR when I was non-revving out of there on US at their gates next door back in the summer of 1989. That and seeing their stubby Boeing 747SP's there on the EWR-NRT route they had at the time.
Jump to postFrom what I have heard the ELP-DEN service will not start until sometime next March almost 8 months away. It would not surprise me if the advance bookings don't come up to expectations they may never start the service or the flights will be short lived. Time will tell on how many of these new routes...
Jump to postWho knows it could have been a gate agent with a political axe to grind or it could have been an innocent seat duplication issue that happens all the time everyday. There are always two sides to every story.
Jump to postThis thread on FAT sounds similar to the situation in ELP, similar demographics and incomes, and decline in air service. The only thing keeping ELP going these days is Southwest which has an almost 50% share of the market there.

Jump to postI wish UA would start a well timed early morning ELP-SFO non-stop to conveniently connect with these new long haul routes like the current ABQ-SFO 0615. Jump to postWonder when and who might start service across the other pond to NRT or PEK? It is the tale of the two Texas for sure. Jump to postI'm curious if there will be any "early out" retirement incentive. Even, perhaps, in the form of a signing bonus, after which disenfranchised folks can take the money and run. There already has been one on the sUA side as my now retired sUA FA mom took the "early out" retirement...

Jump to postAnother difference I see with the new Eastern is it looks like they are leasing their own aircraft (newer B737-800's) versus of what the PEX 2.0 did with Vision Air using their older B737-400's.
