[photoid][/photoid] Here is a long article on the hatemonger Carlson https://www.cjr.org/the_profile/tucker-carlson.php It sounds like he makes a lot of noise, puts a lot of words together, yells, but never actually says anything. And people seem to love him for it. Says a lot, doesn't it? You clear...Jump to post
It’s absolutely insane how bad the safety record is for this airline. Blows my mind anyone would step on one of their aircraft. How unsafe can a plane that is 2 months old be. This sounds like a problem with the airplane. They should have been flying on auto pilot 8 minutes into the flight. They al...Jump to post

Speaking of BKL, trouble at OneJet. Are they out of funds? I hope Ultimate Air is still a separate entity and not part of OneJet yet so that it could be separate from this and continue to prosper at BKL...and hopefully add LGA and MDW. http://www.post-gazette.com/local/region/2018/08/10/OneJet-subj...Jump to post
an A320 from Tianjin to Haikou got under attack by a hailstorm when cruising at an altitude of 9,800 a misfortune that led to the plane's frontal outer windshield smashed and its nose damaged You don't get under attack by a hailstorm, you fly into it. Therefore it's not a misfortune but a misjudgem...Jump to post
A few years ago we were leaving Aruba on AA and we must have crawled for 30 minutes to taxi to the runway. This was during another contract slowdown. There was no other takeoff traffic at the airport. The pilots were applying brakes to keep the plane extra slow as the idle thrust threatened to achi...Jump to post

I mean if one is booking domestic F and its not possible on a UA 50 seater, they will decide to book alternatives if possible. The problem isn't just flying to small markets. Take for example LAX-AUS, UA is all regional, AA, DL and WN are all mainline and this is a 3hr flight, not some short hop. W...Jump to post
Thanks for preparing this. It highlights UA's disappointing reliance on 50-seat RJs. I'd like to fly UA but won't spend half my paid F journey in a CRJ when DL and AA can get me to a place like CHA without downgrading en route. UA isn’t going to put a 73G or 319 on a route that doesn’t have the dem...Jump to post
[photoid][/photoid] man. pathetic % mainline numbers. I know united has always been thought of as a "regional heavy" airline. But this thread really points it out. Thanks for creating these threads. I learned to fly on 9L (though I solo-ed on 9R) and remember the days of the beautiful SAA planes landing on those long finals starting over Weston! I am most interested to see if/how the DXB flights will be impacted. We fly that route often and have quickly come to love that flight, the service an...Jump to post

I don't want to be pendantic, but I do not think there is currently a 787 base at IAH of any kind. That base was moved to IAD last year. Currently the only 787 operations from IAH is a 789 that runs IAH-SYD in a W pattern with LAX. I don't work for UA, but I assume those crews are either LAX or SFO...Jump to post

Maybe you should add the word “passenger” somewhere since they’re still building the 767. Not to be overly pedantic, but Boeing is building the KC-46 Pegasus, a military cargo/tanker variant. The 767 is clearly a passenger plane, so there's really no need to add the word, "passenger." The...Jump to post

End of thread.
UA has updated their summer schedule. Frequencies aren't much different from last summer, but capacity is up. Lots of 739's in the schedule and mainline to IAD. Also the Airbuses are gone; maybe that means there's hope of keeping the 737 crew base a while longer. It’s been a few years since UA has ...Jump to post
That's why UA should get the A321 and CR9 to aid in upgauging routes. The CS100, E190, or more A319s would be good to, but not sure of their intent in that regard. My numbers for the present were from their December 2017 Cargo timetable, and are probably wrong on two counts, I had to average 737-70...Jump to post
And my first thought is that operating such very heavy aircraft for few passengers will send ticket prices way up. As electricity will be a fraction of the cost of jet fuel so it doesn't matter if the aircraft is larger. The electric plane will be much cheaper to run. Electric motors have less movi...Jump to post
...even with just United Express. Upguagung certainly could be a part of that, but I can’t imagine it will get them there alone. I did a quick and dirty, 5-minute web search and found a few upgrade opportunities for UA out of DEN. What I would personally consider major markets out of DEN still see ...Jump to post
YYZ-SEA recently went A320 on AC, but it still really doesn't seem like a huge route. If Toronto gets the Amazon HQ2, that changes things, but as it stands, that's a long flight that would rely on almost all O/D. DL from LAX would probably make a lot more sense, that is an absolutely massive route ...Jump to post
UA has reduced CLE-BOS to two flights on weekdays through May, although June and out still shows three. Dummy booking or real schedule? I suspect they are fine tuning the hubs and will address things like CLE-BOS with whatever crew time and equipment is left. MKE is still listed also; I figured tha...Jump to post
Single pilot in 15 years? You realize they are building “brand new” 737’s that can’t even automatically turn on the anti-icing system? You’re dreaming. What is being built today is irrelevant. What could be built with not much effort is what matters. In less that 10 years people will be used to tra...Jump to post
Dont know if United is getting profits or not, but even if United wanted to remove the route, it cannot, because this route is not seasonal type route. Its always full. Apparently it is so full, that captain has to leave 2-3 containers behind sometimes in order not to cross MTOW, since its a 200ER....Jump to post
I have not read any information on where did that last UA 747 fly to after its last commercial flight to HNL. Nor have I seen pictures of of UA747s parked in the dessert. Full electric propulsion with a 500nm range and a 2-3hour charge time will transform the sector. Single pilot operations will eventually come. They would have to first prove the plane could do everything itself from takeoff to landing. In 15-20 years we will definitely have 50 seater electric plane...Jump to post

Just cus an airplane can get to 510 doesn’t mean it’s optimal. Ask those pinnacle pilots about going to 410 in their RJ Don’t confuse “suboptimal” with what happened to Pinnacle 3701. AA stronger in Texas, than UA. Personally, I would say it's AA, then WN, then UA when it comes to flights within Texas. A huge amount of airports in Texas are AA only anyway (CLL, TYR, ABI...just to name a few). On a side note for GRK, though, 5x for AA, 2x for UA, and 1x for DL, yet DL still has j...Jump to post

I have never been on any of the ERJ-135/140/145s and I really wish we'd see some out west in the UA system.
