If I'm not mistaken, the last specific aircraft that was named Longreach (excluding the overall 747-438 fleet of course) was 747-238B, VH-EBS, until 1990 when it was renamed Broken Hill.

Regarding this topic, did BA serve Zambia prior to the British Caledonian merger of 1988? Also does anyone know, or remember the aircraft type that were utilized on these routes just after that merger? I found that BA operated 744s on LGW-LUN-LLW and LGW-HRE-LUN in 1997, but was curious as to other ...

TW41 operated PHL-JFK-SFO with an L-1011 in 1982. Not certain how long this lasted.

In 1977 it would most surely have been a 747-121. 747SP-21s arrived in 1976, but were utilized primarily on Pacific services. The 747-200s that PA acquired from Singapore didn't arrive until 1983.

Before domestic deregulation (October, 1990), was it possible to purchase transport on any of the Qantas flight segments that operated within Australia, such as SYD-BNE or SYD-PER? I'm guessing not, but wanted to ask anyway.

Just flew AKL-NSN-AKL last week on a nice ATR72-600 operated of course by Mt. Cook Airline.
When did Mt Cook begin operating this route? I had thought Air Nelson did all of that.

I remember reading years ago that TWA wasn't allowed to have a coach lounge on int'l flights (probably due to unfair competition). So when the 747s were on overseas flights, first class passengers actually had two lounges at their disposal.

Is it possible that the second 747 seat map pre-dated the map with the main deck lounge? I thought that when the main deck coach lounge was removed that it was replaced with coach seats.

Not sure what exactly K class was. Is it possible that it was an area that was reserved for families traveling with small children (kids)?

Regarding DAL east concourse usage in early to mid 2000s, can anyone recall the gate numbers that were used by AA, CO, etc.?
At one point weren't there some additional gates opened further down the former BN concourse? Were there perhaps 5 in total?

Cheers OA260, I searched an image on google earth from 2006 and saw what appeared to be a few 737s parked in front of the 1942 terminal as Pier D was under construction. Thought it might have been utilized then? Perhaps it was just overflow parking. Thanks again.

Been doing a bit of LAX history research but have been unable to find out when FIS services were started in Terminals 5 and 7.
As United was primarily a domestic carrier at LAX until the early '90s, I'm assuming that FIS at Terminal 7 might have been built then?

The 777-223ER site mentioned shows 11 Business Class 45 seat configurations remaining. There are actually 2 (7BG and 7BU). Is there any other way of tracking Zodiac seats? Cheers.

BA introduced Premium Economy (World Traveller Plus) in November 2000. QF introduced Premium Economy on the A380 (F14 J72 W32 Y332) and 747 (F14 J66 W40 Y187) in October and November 2008 respectively.

PVG runway questions

I know that PVG's third runway opened back in March of 2008. Was this one of the present runway 35/17s on the west side of the airport?
Was the fourth runway that opened in March of 2015 also on the west side?

If I'm not mistaken, the departure of N590AA represents the last of the legacy AA MD-83s leaving the fleet. Of course there are still several former TW MD-83s and legacy AA MD-82s remaining.

Up until sometime in the 1990s AZ only flew from FCO to GIG nonstop before continuing to GRU (VCP) or EZE. My question is does anyone know when AZ began nonstop service from FCO to GRU and EZE? Was this perhaps when the MD-11 entered service?

Anyone care to speculate why PAA named the 22 Nov 1935 crossing as the China Clipper when the routing was Alameda Harbour (SF Bay) - Honolulu - Midway - Wake - Guam - Manila? I did some searching, but was unable to find any explanation.
