What??? The A388s are confirmed to be headed for NH mainline. The Vanilla rumour is just that: a rumour. The ANA A380 are for Honolulu flights, not Mainland USA or European flights. ANA's 787 and coming 777-9 fleets are the long haul airplanes for the "regular" ANA fleet.
...

CEO: ANA to buy A380

No one appears to have picked up on this aspect of the article, but it clearly states that a) ANA will buy A380 over the next 5 years to b) address capacity gaps. Here is the quote “ANA will spend around 200 billion yen per fiscal year on aircraft-related investments. In addition to Airbus A380 supe...

Re: The A380 and US airlines: Too late or still a chance?

It’s totally un-American to think small and unambitious. So it will happen. The A380 is the best aircraft flying in the long-haul space from a customer perspective, and also the safest. Asian routes out of LAX, SFO, DTW, JFK and ATL would work for DL and UA and HA from HNL. If the A380 was a US prod...

Yep when new ISB airport opens, a new LHR flight on BA will almost for sure open up. This is great news! Here's why: 1. The new ISB airport is much more safer than any of the other airports in Pakistan, including LHE, KHI and the old ISB 2. The new flight will get lots of diplomatic traffic from Br...

It was QF 747s. UM only had 707s at that time, bought from LH and flown with LH interior. HRE was a straw man for JNB. Zimbabwe was the breadbasket of the region, and a role model for a successful transition of apartheid South Africa.

A380s work best if you run with just one really big hub, more and more airlines run multiple hubs. If you look at airlines who still are prime targets for A380s, the list is limited: ME3, JAL and ANA, BA, KE, SIA and imho the bigger Chinese Airlines could run a small number too. I have always believed that twin engine planes should be banned from flying Australia/New Zealand to South America ....
