RE: Attractiveness Of Middle East Hubs

Not wanting to light up this forum but....on the way back to the Mid East last month, I was talking with the UA purser and a few other crew members. They mentioned "United, Doha and hub" in the same conversation. I've dated a bunch of <acronym title="...

I haven't been thru DOH in a while so I was wrong assuming that they were on schedule with their opening. RE: Attractiveness Of Middle East Hubs

Have you been through Doha's new airport/terminal yet or was it the old one? Dubai is pretty impressive but it's made for a lot of very long layovers since a lot of their destinations are only daily or 2X and if you miss the first cnx, you're waiting either 11 or 23 hours for the next one. Dubai is ...

I doubt that they could get a waiver to the 1,250 mile permiter rule for that.

RE: Who Handles Persian Gulf ATC?

West to east, the ATC en-route facilities are: Bahrain, UAE and Muscat.

A lot of Muscat airspace is non-radar (procedural for you Brits) and accounts for the huge delays leaving the UAE in the 2AM - 4 AM time slots to India/SE Asia/Australia.

RE: Increase In RJ Flying From IAH?

As a frequent passenger, there is a huge difference between RJs and they shouldn't be all lumped into the same category. Flying out of DXB, the standard security checkpoints are a joke compared to US/UK standards. Once you proceed past the gate agents for US-bound flights on a US carrier, you will get the secondary screening of your li...
