Re: Man vs machine; are we ready to replace pilots completely?

It’s not coming, you can’t program a computer for every possible scenario as there are limitless issues that can happen. And a computer can’t react as fast as a person in possible catostraphic scenarios. How will a computer react to a highjacking? How would the hijacker take control? Wait...now you...

Most of you are missing the number one reason this can't/shouldn't happen - judgement. You can't teach a computer "spidey sense" - and it's a player far more than most think. Just tonight we were approaching the Rockies and felt/noticed just a tickle of what felt like mountain wave. With ...

Do you think that's due to demand, or lack thereof, for WN service out of LAX considering the available options available on LAX-HNL or do you think it's more because of gate space at LAX Terminal 1? It hasn’t been my contention WN wouldn’t start LAX. It’s been discussed before, by others. Some WN ...

This is the argument I’ve had regarding WN, and whether they have hubs or not. But since filling planes is one way an airline makes money, I’ve still wondered why an LCC or ULCC couldn’t make money with a banked hub at a strategic geographic location (like DEN in the US)? The problem for WN is that going to a smaller plane doesn't necessarily make for great economics. However, the pilots will want the same pay, as will the FA's, mechanics, ramper...
