Belgrade , Bucharest and Sofia seem like big holes. I don't think daily but they could do 2-3 weekly each but maybe the ego is getting in the way.

There is no market for A338 so they may as well launch a stretch, not today but within 5 years. A350 is clearly a more modern and more beautiful aircraft but a stretch A330 could be an economic solution.

Airbus already has an A330 stretch, it's called the A350. Stretching the A330 further would basically cannibalize the A350, and the A330 may lose its weight advantage for short sectors. Slot constraints are issues on both ends and they are related with time and not just space. Believe it or not , there are limits to growth in many forms . If they go NEO and go with RR engines , they have to stretch it otherwise it will be too capable as in 9000nm. Something like 900 stretch of 76m fuselage with Advance engines by 2022 and and 1000 stretch with 79m fuselage and Ultrafan by 2027

I thought that EK changed to RR engines as an investment into the Ultrafan which should be the only engine choice for a future NEO version.
