You should see Singapore airport. Especially T1. My dad described it as a big shopping mall rather than an airport.
Jump to postAh, I do agree that T1 is pretty old, and needs renovation. (one of the reasons ADP dumps all the foreign airlines there). There is a terminal 3 at CDG??? Wow, I must be behind. Can some one point out to me where it is?
Jump to postA crash is when an aircraft is written off, or damaged beyond repair. For example, this AF crash and the Saudi 747 crash posted earlier. An Accident is something considered repairable. For example, the 747 that went into the water at Kaitak, or the A320 which hi...
Jump to postWhile looking at pictures, overviews, and being at Paris CDG my self, I have noticed countless aircraft at parkings and not at gates. A ratio of about 2:1 to be realistic. (for every 2 aircraft a gates, 1 aircraft at ...
Jump to postSFO was built ages ago. But now, any new airport can't have two parallel runways so close, or even on the same airfield.
Jump to postWhats up with all this? Why can't the airline invest in a more real fleet of Airbus and/or Boeing aircraft?
Jump to postI think they could use the A380 on the Kangaroo route. LHR to SYD, or any where in Europe to Australia. Jump to postSo, is this how it looks? everet On the top left is the main facility. The white roof area I assume is the 777 addition built in the early 1990s. As you can see, there are 6 lines. 1 for 777, 1 for 787, 1 for 747, and 1 for 7...
Jump to postAh, thanks. So I take it that the 767 is closing? Because in Everet, they only have room for 3 different aircraft.
So its...

Renton:

Long Beach:
Empty?
Since the old 757 line is free, Boeing will use it to build the 787. But where will Airbus build the A350? They currently have no free assembly line and the A300/A310 facility is too small. Thanks for the thoughts. P.S. And anyone know what will happen to the old McDonnell Douglas Md11 and 717 facil...

Jump to postWell, in terms of money loss, I would say the Lockheed L1011 Tristar. Sold only 200 out of the needed 400 to over come productions costs.
Jump to postWith everyone talking about airports upgrading terminals, gates, taxiways, and runways for the new jumbo, I was wondering if any existing hangars can fit an A380, and if not, what are airlines doing about maintenance? All I know so far, is that Lufthansa will have a new hangar in Frankfurt. Any more?
Jump to postNot possible. Completely different Fleets and route structures. They would make a poor couple.

Jump to postNo, LAX gets 2x daily 777-200ER and 3x weekly 747 continuing on to Tahiti.
Jump to postFor long haul operations, Air France uses a fleet of: 2 747-300M 14 747-400 35 777-200ER/300ER + more -300ER on order 21 A340-300 But, these days, I see the airline serving practically all of their long haul destinations with either 777s or A340s. Jump to postOh, I see now... thanks. But would there be a difference in how the landing feels on a forward tliting gear than on a backward tiling gear?
Thanks for the thoughts.
Hey everyone! Though I have been visiting a-net for years, its my first day as an A-net member! Well, to the topic... Why do the main gears on jetliners tilt? And why do some tilt in front, some in the back, and some not at all? Main gears tilting forward... <a href="http://www.airliners.net/open.fi...
