RE: NW Bucks A Trend In ROC (slightly)

In response to KROC's comments about United pulling mainline service out of ROC and BUF......I don't doubt what he heard and it will probably come true. However, I think it would be smart for UA to keep the 737's and A319's on BUF-ORD and ROC-ORD. Now that AA is pulling out mainline jet service, the...

Bill Harm's web site still shows them registered to Airtran as of July 25th, 2002. I noticed there are no pics in the Airliners.net database since May 2001. Maybe they are leasing them to someone else. However, again according to Bill Harms web site, even Airtran leases one of them from GE Capital. ...

Airtran 737's Why?

Why does Airtran still have two 737-200's? What role do they provide that the 9's and 717's can't? Why not retire them instead of retiring the 9's as quickly? It must be expensive for them to maintain spares, training, etc. for only two planes.

I'm not an airline operations expert. However, I'm looking at it like this: ROC demand is currently filled with F-100's and ERJ's. Since we all know the F100's are going away, AA can either put some MD-80's on the route or it can add more ERJs. They probably looked at demand and figured out using MD...

I heard from an ex-Vanguard employee the 737's have been or are being turned back to their leasors but the MD-80's are still in KC. Maybe somebody from KC could confirm this. I wonder if a new Vanguard would keep the MD-80's? I guess that would depend on the lease deal they had before.
