Re: Qatar Airways announces its profits.

The growth in their fleet/engine/maintenance costs are huge. With so many planes coming on board, as an outsider, I would expect to see larger unit increase in in revenue. 260% in fleet cost vs 3% in Revenue. Hopefully the network effects and flight hours to start kick this number up. Lots of shiny ...

Re: Could "SuperSonic" Jets make a comeback?

The problem is, that no country will allow supersonic flight over land, and that means that you only have the usual long over-water routes. And these will surely be out of reach for a small supersonic biz-jet. Is it going to be able to do YMML-KLAX or YSSY-KLAX non-stop? Or will it need to make sto...

With a 90% increase in seats you'd need fewer, longer turns. Does anyone really need HNLITO every 30 min? I get a kick out of the various a.net threads where people keep thinking that airlines should just fly less frequently with larger planes. "Does anybody really need a flight from A to B ev...

The US Airlines (minus WN) all filed for BK, came out and merged, then it is very recently fuel prices have settled lower. Capacity discipline is now the name of the game, and pushing toward load 100% load factors. Southwest flies about 83% LF today (Full year 2015) vs 70% 10 years earlier in 2005. ...
