I'd also like to see an ORD-OGG run and I wish United would bring back the HNL service. I guess American out did them on that route as their ORD-HNL service still exists. New York to OGG would be the best though!

I hope PIT retains CDG as well as the other transatlantic routes. I'd love it if US replaced the current 762 to CDG from PIT with the A330 that will leave the CLT-LGW route. That would make all transatlantic service out of PIT A330's!

According to Bill Harm's Airplane Census, Continental currently operates only 6 767-400's and 9 767-200's compared to 22 DC-10's (that doesn't sound right to me). The longest runway at PIT is 11,500 feet. The 2 US Airways A330-300's from London and Frankfurt are the biggest airplanes landing daily. These airplanes on these routes have a choice of three runways at PIT for both takeoffs and landings.

The A330-300x's were bought for the purpose of serving international routes only and so that they could move their 762er's to high-demand transcontinental routes. My pleasure. Also, because CO 764's hold fewer passengers they also have slightly greater range (maybe 150nm more) just because payload is always less on the CO 764's. Both carriers use the same GE engine.

Delta's 764's are for domestic use. The configuration in first is 2-2-2 and very cramped for first class. And by the way coach configurations on all 767's are 2-3-2 not 3-3-3 or 3-4-3. Anyhow, Continental 764 first class is configured 2-1-2 so they need more of the airplane to have 35 seats and ther...

Why does BA use the Trents on their ultra long haul routes and the GE 90's on shorter long haul to medium missions? Does the trent have better fuel economy, or better long haul performance? What's the deal?

Why would they put an entirely different engine on their longer range 777er's? And why do they differentiate between and list different ranges for their regular 777's, their IGW 777's and 777er's? Check out the website in the original post and see for yourself.

I wouldn't be surprised if Delta bought a few 744's in the next ten to fifteen years. Leo, unfortunately isn't a big fan of the airplane. They certainly have the demand for a jumbo as the biggest airline in terms of passengers flown.

With so much room for expansion at PIT, do you think we'll see the addition of a new terminal within our lifetime (30 years)? For that to happen either US Airways would have to double in size, or another airline would have to start a hub at PIT.

The A330-300 could easily do PHL-HNL nonstop fully loaded assuming the aircraft wouldn't be limited by AWABS due to runway length at PHL and or climb gradients.
