Agree with other poster - general musings without specific facts leave the reader confused i.e. exact number of flights cancelled, number of pilots stood down, specific end user (passenger) impact - would help.

No cancellations on the day per se....but the thread leads me to believe that this could be the factor on reductions. They would sooner reduce existing than cancel a launch due PR sensitivities. Pax load factor and revenue load factor (cargo, premium etc) are two different things. Total Yield Factor...

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if they're pulling back. Dumping dirt-cheap fares to shuttle 500 seats back and forth to a tourist trap in the middle of the desert is not a sustainable strategy, no matter what the legions of EK fanboys will tell you. None- US3 don’t compete on any of the DXB directs which feed one stop to multiple points in Asia, Africa and beyond.

DXB to close southern runway for 45 days due maintenance upgrade - APR/MAY 2019. Reduction in flying for all carriers with DWC offered as alternative.

DWC upgrade will be ready to handle up to 26m per year by that time.

The dynamics of dedicate Freighter are quite different and takes a lot of manueving with crews and empty inbound aircraft. They are better served in the freight heavy routes - HKG, NBO, AMS etc So a once weekly 777F would provide 110t of cargo ex AKL but a daily pax covers the cost of getting in out...
