I understand that DXB is mainly connecting pax and UA doesn't fly there anymore anyway. America First doesn't apply to all industries ie air transport and that is fine because our government allowed these deals. But as a Global Services member I will never enter an Emirates cabin and Dubai (IMHO) a...Jump to post

Strong rumors in ME that they are negotiating sending their 77Fs to EK along with pilots.
Freight booming but you need the critical mass of the size of EKs network and associated belly hold to achieve economies of scale.
EY are just too niche now - both pax and freight. Gulf Air 2 in the making.
Agree - let’s see the link or man-up and take the hit and we move on.Jump to post
It's Dubai... They have a history of hiding aircraft problems. EK 521 an incident...Short memories here. The official final report has not yet been released and lies within the acceptable 24-36 month range for a final report. The initial report was published on the GCAA’s website and is widely avai...Jump to post

What you are seeing at the Airline is quite simply - burn out. It’s on many levels but essentially they have for the past 5 years run the pilots literally into the ground. We are not talking about fatigue of a particular person on a particular flight. It’s the effects of longer term fatigue - what’s...Jump to post
Does a pilot perform better, or worse, with, or without, a hat? If the hat has no bearing on his/her performance, then what exactly is the necessity of it? Far too few of those posting are concerned with what exists in a pilot's head, morose that what sits on it. In an era where pilots are overwork...Jump to post

It’s headscrathingly bizarre reading some of the above posts. Scab, hatred of ME3, JS denied etc. The hypocrisy is something to behold. Firstly as a long time ALPA member - please do not use the word scab incorrectly - it’s a powerful term and tool. It is given to those who cross a picket line. This...Jump to post

Just this week. They are removing F from the planes and making them 2 class.
Above post correct. They have code shares and ownership stakes with the big Chinese state owned & subsidized airlines yet principally argue against it with ME3 but when it suits them with the Chinese - nothing. I won’t even get into the subsidies that Aeroflot & Saudia enjoy as Delta’s SkyTe...Jump to post

In this this CNN interview with John Defterios - STC reveals his suspicions that EK owners want to do more with EY.
That would be one way of financing the move to DWC in shorter order

The criticism of 2-3-2 in J has to be put into the context of revenue and opportunity cost. I’m sure they have run the numbers and decided the lost revenue of those pax who will not choose EK is superseded by the extra pax they can attract with their price/product proposition. Unless one is privy to...Jump to post
Another nice factor for EK -is that it’s a common type rating by the UAE GCAA with 777. The 77X & 78J have the same flight deck. It will be operated by one Boeing crew list - quite efficient - with marginal differences.
Does anyone know if the 350 & 380 are a common type in UAE ?
Can't wait to see what company will order. I know Delta have their hands full on the 737-900ER, A321-200, and the future CS100 aircraft. But I know they are gonna have to replace quite a few 737-800s, and A319/A320 since they are getting up to their age. There were talks about them considering orde...Jump to post

Its one thing to be stuck in an A330-300 for 7 hours with 400 people to Australia but to fly all the way from Kuala Lumpur to Los Angeles is quite another. There is such a thing a being "too cheap". Air AsiaX may want to upgrade it offering and have a real premium economy like Scoot or Je...Jump to post
Someone who knows more than me would probably be better at answering this, but is it too late for Airbus to kill off the 319neo if Frontier and Avianca allowed their 319neo orders to be converted to CS300 and/or 320neo? I know that they are towards the final stages of testing, but with very few rec...Jump to post
