Re: EK A388 go around from 400ft AGL 8 nm before runway in Moscow

Amongst commercial pilots - EK is considered one the poorest outfits to work for - and as such droves of experienced Captains have left for greener pastures such as Korean & China over the last 4-5 years. They are now hiring turbo prop pilots with minimum experience to fly large wide bodies airc...

Money talks - pay the Capt /FO €1000/600 call out daily pay - problem solved. Approx €2 per pax hit for FR based on full 4 legs.

While always a need for a global fleet of 747Fs - due low fuel prices the new name of the game in cargo and pax is - fragmentation. Thinner less traditional routes by smaller frames.

Look out for large orders for 737F & 320F - it's already started with the express carriers in China.

Re: Ryanair running out of pilots? FR cancels 110 flights (09/12)

This is what happens when you pay pilots with minimum wages, use third party labour company to be rid of as much benefits as you can, etc. Sometimes pilots even have to pay for their type ratings, so guess what happens to their pilot sources. On the other hand, if you want to be a low cost airline,...

I won't split hairs with you on the LR/Max10. The point is if the UAE were to market the "Pearl Coast" for example as a destination region rather than two cities - i don't know - stick a Disney half way between the two - whatever. The point is the combined carriers unified out of of a 24hr...

So a month ago - it's all systems go and now it's "off the table". I'm going out on a limb here. This could finally be a logical move in tandem with EY. I know folks in the region say "never" but it makes almost too much sense not to. Either a take over of future EY orders or dar...

At a guess,777X converted to 787 by EK. According to AviationWeek website Morgan Stanley just issued a caution to Boeing investors citing ME3 exposure on 7X. Based on changing market fundamentals going forward -order completion from gulf carriers unlikely on larger twins. Qatar will not be there. Al...

Hopefully Cathay succeeds in Dublin. Read somewhere earlier (CAPA) that 400k Pax fly From Dublin to HKG annuallly. With 4K paddies in the city and perhaps another 1k in Shenzhen, the route will have a strong following I hope. Here's some analysis provide by BlueSwanDaily (part of CAPA) https://blue...

On the T7 its about a 10t hit on rwy 28 DUB (13*/1013/zero wind) As we all know it rains a lot in DUB - though not sure if grooved constitutes dry with CX Interestingly enough - 16/28 shows grooved, 10/28 does not - per LH LIDO char...

Re: Cathay Pacific multiple "beer related" new destinations imminent UPDATE: CX announces HKG-DUB, HKG-BRU and HKG-CPH

Is DUB even capable of Asian flights aside from Middle East? I thought their runways were too short. DUB RWY 10/28 has a TORA of 2637 M and TODA of 2850 M which is enough for MTOW on the A350-900. Agreed, enough of the beer already. Re performance A350. Any issues with 'wet' figures hindering MTOW?...

Having the capability to use it does not mean a pilot is going to try it out in such extreme conditions. In the simulator sometimes okay but on a real flight, you trust your judgement as a pilot and do not leave a difficult landing to the automatics unless there is a reason. Let me turn this around...
