Re: Atlas Air 3591 Down in Trinity Bay, Texas

The birds idea is an interesting one. We do have a lot of birds at this time of year. That whole area around Trinity Bay is a popular migration tract. Recently I've seen flocks of egrets, pelicans, turkey vultures, other waterfowl flying in formation. Presumably birds wouldn't have sufficient mass ...

It's pretty crazy when you add Sharjah and Abu Dhabi into the mix, each with their own airlines (Air Arabia and Etihad). Air Arabia with 321LRs & SHJ is perfectly positioned to get Indigo’s (for example) Indian customers to EU. Watch that space. In fact I’m surprised they haven’t gone after Wiz...

It’s a 100bnAED project. The only chance is if EY fold and the Abu Dhabi govt goes all in. High speed train shuttles from both downtowns with check-ins at said points. But even though that’s the only strategy that makes sense, it won’t happen. The politics within the emirates clouds logic & prag...

The 339 is long overdue. Right sized to launch a new route or add a second or third daily, cheap to acquire. This size aircraft was sorely missed at EK over the last few years. I think a lot can change with that 350 order bewtween now and 2024, we shall see. RE the 380, the market is fragmenting and...

Would this agreement infer that the UAE (EK) will also be given an Open Skies agreement. It is hard to argue for the opposite if the primary focus is on the consumer. It would let EK compete on secondary cities against QR/TK thus lowering prices. Just look at Dublin now for those traveling to Far Ea...

An old instructor of mine, retired United DC-10 captain, said they used to fly packages in the seats of their 727’s during nights out of LAX in the ‘70’s.

But the funny part of the story was - “We used to let the FE do the take-offs on those!”
