Re: WestJet cutting capacity by 6%

Wow, MEX sure doesn't seem to be the gold mine that AS, WN and WS thought it would be. UA recently reduced service at MEX, too. Hopefully things improve by the time the new MEX opens (if indeed it even will) in a couple years... Then there's LAX-YYZ, which has just seen a frequency reduction by WS ...

While I'm not surprised to see the Asia cuts, given how AA has mentioned the possibility, I'm kind of surprised to see the announcement coming so soon. Any bets on what will happen with the ORD-PVD request (and this vacated ORD-PEK authority)?

FWIW, I think what they did regarding the fare family rollout could be interpreted as ULCC-esque in how it unbundled elements of their base product. It's an open question as to whether these appointments will lead to much of a change in anything at B6. Aside from things like exec. compensation and existentially significant changes, most boards are pretty hands off especially with day-to-day decisions.

DL has, so far, mostly avoided going up against AA or UA hubs from BOS, unless they also have a presence on the other end. DL does not serve from BOS: - DFW - ORD - CLT - DEN - PHX - MIA (although I believe they tried this relatively recently). - IAD or DCA - IAH They do serve SFO, although that is...

You're entitled to your opinion, but B6 went into LGB knowing the limitations of the airport (i.e. slots and no FIS). Frankly, that is surprising to me because on paper AS should do better in SFO for a lot of reasons, but mostly fewer competitors. It is also possible AS isn't doing well at LAX either, but knows if they even flinch they will lose gates which would be an unacceptably bad outcome. I don't know if it'...
