Re: Why doesn't LATAM fly to LIS?

TP has lots of direct flights into plenty of places in Brazil, so there is less need for connections on western end. On the European side, with JJ being in Oneworld, connections are far better at MAD and LHR to the rest of Europe and so you are left with the O/D traffic which, I guess, they are cont...

Will any of the European big 3 (Lufthansa Group, AFKLM, IAG) unite under a single brand.

As the ECAA now has a decent history as a common market and pan-European brands are certainly prevalent on the Low Cost side (FR, U2, VY, W6), what are the thoughts on consolidation of brands of the legacy carriers that are, to a large extent, consolidated on the corporate side but still operate as ...

Re:

Looks like a good, competitive product. Kind of off topic, but does UX still fly 1-class A/C across the Atlantic? Would be...interesting to see a 3 class IB plane and a 1 class UX plane on the same route. I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure they just do the 1 class 330 to CUN, HAV, and PU...

Re: MAD - Airside arrivals Q.

Yes yo can take the tube, as I said before, line 8 between both terminals but not the Train of the National Railway Service of Spain ( RENFE) that only serve the T4. If you see the leyend of the stations yo had post, you can se in the T4 is a "C" in white letter and red backdrop that mean...

Re: Remnants of old terminals

The L.C. Smith Terminal at DTW is still standing, even though the airlines that were in there moved into the North Terminal in 2008. I guess Wayne County just doesn't have the money to tear it down. I remember some long hikes to C24 in that terminal. Hard to believe it was almost 20 years ago that ...

My question is what they will do if there's an equipment change to a plane with now PE cabin. Upgrade everyone to C? Send you back to Y and pay the EC261 compensation?

Re: Iberia to retire their last active A340-300

Thank the lord! But yes, this means there will be no more old cabins in IB's long haul. There are a couple A340-600s with the old livery and updated cabins to still see it around. EDIT: IIRC, these aircraft are due for D checks soon and with the relatively quick pace they are receiving the 330-200's...

Re: Mother sues jetBlue after staff fly 5-year-old boy to wrong city and present her with a different 'son'

Yeah, someone screwed up but it wasn't dangerous for anyone involved, just inconvenient. They should absolutely refund the costs as a customer service measure. What, exactly, is the mother attempting to get in terms of damages. Her histeria because the kid was entrusted to the airline (entirely fine...

Re: MAS changes A380 plans, again

Since WW at BA said he`d be interested used A380`s, wouldn`t these RR powered Malaysian examples be ideal? In my understanding WW statement was for a few numbered A380's to equip IAG subsidiaries EI & IB, not necessarily for BA; yes he stated those need to be as much close in their specificatio...

Re: ET at MAD

I find it curious that ET sees this as a viable route, on a narrowbody with a stop, and doesn't either make it a nonstop 787 consistent with its other EU routes or axe it and use partners to serve MAD. MAD is really low on connections to Africa so it works out of necessity. I imagine they will beco...

Re: British Airways cancels BA3/BA4 LCY-JFK

I could see them running a flight to DME. I know that the premium market was very strong there prior to the current sanctions, but I have no idea if it's still strong.

I do agree that when Crossrail opens, it will really hurt any long haul possibilities for LCY.

As that's sovereign French territory, wouldn't that just count as a flight directly from the European Common Aviation Area?

Re: Operational Issues at Vueling leading to delays and cancellations

Oh I experienced this on Saturday at Barcelona. It was horrendous. First I traveled from Washington on Lufthansa. Got To bcn and huge delays in retrieving luggage due to Swissport labor actions. It took over an hour. Then I walked upstairs to the vueling check in for my connection on vueling to Men...

Re: LH vs. BA: The Economics of SJC

Also, I wouldn't assume that the fares for a few months out are the standard for flights to Silicon Valley. It's going to be the real money maker by getting last minute business bookings from the VC and tech firms. No actual data, but I suspect BA has the advantage just because London is a more impo...

Yes. Iberia Express is an entirely different airline with separate crews (that are paid less)

BA already does something similar with its Worldwide, Mixed Fleet, Short Haul crews and different agreements depending on if they are Gatwick or Heathrow based.

UX does a lot of charter flights. Almost certainly a large group that wants to go to London and CBG has low fees.

I think it may have more to deal with dealing with labour issues rather than clever management.

We have seen how flexible the workforce at AF is.
