It looks like last Saturday was not only the end of the Fokker F70's at KLM, but also yet another 747. PH-BFR "Rio de Janeiro" - build in 1993/1994 - has made her last commercial flight for KLM. On Friday she left Amsterdam for Mexico-City as flight KL685 and came back home on Saturday aft...Jump to post

Well, the day has come. Tomorrow wil be the final day of Fokker aircraft at KLM. As I'm writing this; 6 of the remaining Fokkers are either at Schiphol or at airports in abroad. PH-KZU (with the Anthony Fokker livery) has just departed Amsterdam for Basel, 2 more Fokkers will fly out within the next...Jump to post
KLM Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) has done many A-checks and about 100 C- and D-checks on Virgin Atlantic's 747-400's. This happened between 1994 and 2011. The last D-check they did for Virgin was G-VROC, completed around September 2011. They stopped doing it because the D-check line was c...Jump to post
In exactly one week's time, the last KLM Fokker F70 flight will land at Schiphol Airport from London Heathrow as KL1070. That will be the end of 21 years of F70 at the airline and 97 years of Fokker aircraft at KLM. https://blog.klm.com/assets/uploads/2016/09/1996_Eerste_Fokker_70.png https://blog.k...Jump to post
Hello I will fly an A330-300 from Amsterdam to Calgary. Are these jets already fitted with the new economy class seats and the updated IFE? No. The A330-200's have been retrofitted with a smaller Business-cabin (from this to this ) around March this year. They wil start replacing the entire Busines...Jump to post

Delta Airlines has retired N662US when it flew to Marana on October 15. This means KLM is now flying the two oldest 747-400's around; PH-BFB (full pax) and PH-BFC (combi), delivered to KLM in June and September 1989. Unfortunately not for long; -BFC is scheduled to retire in the beginning of Decembe...Jump to post
A Dutch aviation website (luchtvaartnieuws.nl) stated they will likely return to Amsterdam with the A380 in the Summer of 2018,
just like they did in the Summer of 2015 and 2016.
PH-BFY is now at Paramaribo-Zanderij International Airport in Suriname. It will fly back to Amsterdam in about 2 hours. 4 hours after arrival she will fly to Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Indonesia as flight KL9865. There she will get a D-check; most likely the very last D-check for any KL...Jump to post
Garuda was one of the few airlines that had the galley in the longitudinal setup on the right What was the advantage of that config? Looks like a waste of windows. I don't know about Garuda, but KLM apparently used it because it was convenient for their seating arrangements. They had Royal (First) ...Jump to post

Thanks for the follow up. Any more going to the same shop? Lightsaber There are rumours going around KLM might send one (or more) 747-400's to Twente, but those rumours are very vague. Don't pint me down on this one. Other than that; they've said they want to disassemble more planes here. Which or ...Jump to post

In June 2015, KLM had 2.854 pilots flying the Fokker F70, Embraer 190, Boeing 737, 777, 747 and Airbus A330. At that time it was (if I'm correct): 19 Fokker F70 28 Embraer E190 30 Boeing 737 25 Boeing 777 22 Boeing 747 17 Airbus A330. That's a total of 141 aircraft. 2854 / 141 = 20.2 pilots per airc...Jump to post

The KL routes that are served with 744Ms will become 789 routes?
Here's hoping for a miracle 748 Combi someday I'll join in. :D Yes, Iemand91, sure they can make them, but as you said, they are far less flexible and beefed up (read havier = less efficient). Here is a hypothetical. Say KLM decided to stay with Combis as long as possible given engineering limits? The state of the stored 747's at Teruel. I'm not sure how recent these pictures are; but as you can see; PH-BFM has been scrapped (parts of her can be seen in the center of the image) and PH-BFO is being scrapped.
