Re: Swiss Aviation Thread 41

The figures are from the Swiss Federal Statistics, direct pax. For the 12 months to 30 September ( ie Q4 16 to Q3 17), total departing pax are 25,168 or 50,336 if departures pax are multiplied by 2. That’s 160 pax per flight. About 70 pct load (around January / February typically only 2 flights per ...

Re: Swiss Aviation Thread 41

CA transported around 35,000 Pax over 9 months (plus 7.4 pct) and is on track to reach 50,000 by year end. That’s about 75pct load across the year on 3 weekly frequency. Doing ok and probably not going anywhere.

Re: Cathay Pacific multiple "beer related" new destinations imminent UPDATE: CX announces HKG-DUB, HKG-BRU and HKG-CPH

So what next. According to Anna Aero (http://www.anna.aero/2017/09/01/cathay-pacific-airways-announces-service-brussels-copenhagen-dublin), Geneva is now the largest route with a direct service to HKG. In fact the HKG O&D is higher than BRU or DUB, and the yield is with no doubt way better. But ...

Re: GVA may have to slow growth

The ultimate competence for the Geneva airport concession is the federal government. There is a referendum pending for a "democratic control" of the airport. But it does not change the fact that ultimately it is Bern who will decide the framework of growth for the airport. Currently, the p...

Re: Emirates to open a long haul base in Geneva? Swiss authorities are holding back

These are O&D figures (local PAX only on both side). I.e. PAX boarding in GVA or WAS. Excludes transfer traffic. The O&D is very similar to the ZRH figures. The IAD route is working very well, with transfer PAX in IAD filling the plane: 80,000 PAX pa. in 2015, 75% average load factor for the...

Re: Emirates to open a long haul base in Geneva? Swiss authorities are holding back

Lots of comments on the size of the GVA market (in the broader context of Switzerland), here are some facts: O&D Market - GVA O&D is approximately 14m PAX, versus 17m for ZRH (source: Intraplan, for 2013). GVA is 95% O&D, ZRH is 70% O&D, 30% transfer traffic - ZRH is mostly a Swiss a...
