PVD is closer to GON than BDL is and its a quick ride up I-95 as opposed to the multi route drive to BDL. GON never had as far back I can remember much airline service but only at the end there were B1900's to PHL and those had low load factors. Not many airlines served the city at once, but there ...

How does IAD have long term expansion constraints?

Re: Phoenix Aviation Thread - 2018

Boston is 4.3 million people. Hartford/Springfield combined are 2 million. There are 5 daily flights to Boston. I think Hartford could support 1 or 2. Hello WN. The BDL catchment area serves over 3 million people. BOS is in an entirely different league when it comes to air travel, however BDL has v...

Re: Phoenix Aviation Thread - 2018

I mean BOS bypasses the same cities? BDL is a sizable market—the largest metro area without service to PHX. JAX and ORF are the next two. They are? Never would have occurred to me. Based on metro-area population? Both Jacksonville and Norfolk technically have larger metro populations than Hartford,...

Re: Phoenix Aviation Thread - 2018

Would be nice to have MSN and especially GRR year round. I am personally waiting for JAX, BDL, ALB, and either ORF or RIC. Not sure if any will happen but I’m hopeful. BDL could probably support a flight but its long and thing and overflies a lot of AA hubs & WN focus cities along the way. I'm ...

Re: Best TATL premium products?

I have flown Virgin (JFK-LHR), SAS (CPH-IAD), and Aer Lingus (BDL-DUB, DUB-BOS) transatlantic in J. Virgin had great service and seat, however I didn't like the reverse herringbone config as looking out the window is not the easiest. Since it was a short overnight flight I only elected for the quic...

Re: Upcoming WN schedule extension on 8/30

One thing that interests me is that when WN started service to ALB/PVD/BUF/MHT/BDL, all of the stations received service to the WN's Western focus cities. ALB got LAS, and I believe every other station got service to both LAS and PHX. Most of these were flown for 10-12 years, and then were slowly d...
