RE: 747 Military Usage - Any Hope For A380?

The only mission the 747 is suited for is troop transport, and even then only when used as part of the Civil Air Reserve Fleet. Using it for anything else and you might as well paint a bullseye on the side of it. And as for the A380...talk about a target...

RE: Reverse Thrust Deployed Before Landing

I'm not sure if all Gulfsteams are able to, but the shuttle training aircraft used by NASA climbs up to 35,000 and then deploys the thrust reversers to simulate a shuttle approach and landing.

RE: World's Largest Airport (JXB)

I guess thats true...Probably just building it for use as a hub, in which case that would make sense, as long as they expand on the current airport, and not building an entire new airport around the city.

RE: World's Largest Airport (JXB)

Since when is Dubai the world's new vacation spot? I know Emirates has the capacity to transport that many passengers, (mainly because they have more money than most countries it seems) but 120 million through Dubai? I'm no expert but doubtful...

They didn't get rid of all their mechanics...they still had a few in SFB that were TMA.

Yes, the Skyservice C-FRAV has no overhead bins in the center of the aircraft. Not sure why but I know passengers got upset when they had to have their backpacks put down in the hold.

RE: Allegiant LAN-SFB On MD83?

The MD-83 is used as a spare, or if it hasn't flown for a few days then they will let one of the 87's sit for a day. Last week one of the 87's was down for maintence so they had to use the 83. It has nothing to do with passenger traffic.
