Delta MD-88 vs Delta MD-90 & Boeing 717-200

So recently I was on Delta's MD-90 aircraft from PDX to MSP, and before I got on these flights (same aircraft on the return flight as well), I came across this article: http://loyaltylobby.com/2017/09/10/delta-will-promote-pilots-to-captain-if-theyre-willing-to-fly-the-mad-dog-md-88/ So Delta is pro...

Re: Portland, OR (PDX) - Airlines missing profitable opportunities...?

PDX-PTY or similar. I'm going to use the PDX-MEX flight in December, but now that AeroMexico is ending partnership with Alaska... an easier way to get to Central and South America would be nice. Especially, again, to secondary cities. PDX-PVG Delta could do this with China Eastern... I think it is ...

Re: Is the JetBlue CEO giving us some hints for the future?

WN would offer the highest bid for B6. There eastern and Caribbean market share alone wouldn't be passed up By WN. WN couldn't let the possibilities of someone else gaining that much advantage over WN. So if B6 ever came up for sale it's WN going for the brass ring! But as much as I would LUV a B6 ...

Portland, OR (PDX) - Airlines missing profitable opportunities...?

Hey all, Since I'm a PDX native, I'm always a bit annoyed to see SEA getting all of the new routes, and PDX constantly getting the shaft. With this being said, I don't ever expect PDX to top SEA in terms of passenger traffic and new routes. However, It seems like there would be more opportunities fo...

Either A332/333 or B789.

AF has no A333.

Yeah, I figured that out after I posted this... Oh well...

Re: Norwegian's UK subsidiary given final approval by U.S. Department of Transportation for transatlantic operations

Will this give them permission to fly over Russia? Or what are the new benefits for Norwegian? IDK about Russia, but the main benifit woild be that Norwegian will be able to open/add a ton of more new routes to and from the U.S. and Europe. Even though, I personally think that Norwegian has way mor...

MSP already has a non-stop to HNL (although I think it's only a seasonal route), which is close enough to DTW that a second flight from the same geographical area would not be successful...

PDX released their August 17 stats. Pax up 5.2% from last August. 1822575 v. 1916745. Up 5.7% year to date. Freight is up 11.7%. That’s healthy to see! Up 5.5% year to date. Some carrier stats that stood out: QX was down 9.6% for August. Not surprising. AS was up 23.2%! JetBlue was down 11.7%. Hawa...

Re: DL Future Expansion

I'm not sure why Delta hasn't invested in the PDX market. Passenger/capacity growth has increased significantly over the years. I know that it's too close to SEA, but if DL has a daily nonstop flight from PDX to AMS, then I would assume that there would still be a demand for more long-haul routes fr...

SEA and YVR are completely different markets from one another. I don't think DL will suffer much from AC's YVR-CDG flight.

Re: Air France starts Seattle and Taipei in 2018

When AF starts the SEA route, it wouldn't surprise me at all if DL added a route to CDG from PDX. This happened when DL and Virgin Atlantic increased route frequencies to LHR. (DL added a LHR route from PDX when Virgin Atlantic added a LHR route from SEA). This wouldn't surprise me at all, especiall...
