Re: Rumor* Norwegian OAK- Rome,Paris,Madrid

Also remember that none of the Norwegian flight are daily. Currently there is only one Norwegian plane at a time at OAK and they don't seem to arrive or depart at the same time as the international flights to Mexico. Currently it looks like Monday is the only day with two flights: Stockholm MWF Osl...

Will OAK have enough 787-capable gates to handle 3 or 4 planes at a time?

I would assume gates 1 and 3 can have 787s at the same time. Gate 5 is unusable when a 787 is at 3. Presumably they could also use 8 when HA isn't?

Re: Remote pax loading coming to SFO

In all fairness SFO has issues other airports do not. It has absolutely no ability to acquire additional property, even purchasing it at double the market rates. The only way to increase acreage is to reclaim from the bay which is highly unlikely with the bay area political climate. Politically imp...

Re: SFO-OAK diversions

I wonder if they found stairs at OAK and the passengers disembarked, or whether they stayed on board for the return to SFO? They stayed on the aircraft. The stairs are used just in case there is an emgency on the aircraft that might develop. They would need CBP approval to disembark. Does OAK have ...

Re: SFO-OAK diversions

Wind problems at SFO and low fuel for LH 454, SK 935, EK 225. ATC was trying to figure out where to park em. Only other time I recall A380s at OAK was for the Asiana crash, but I may have missed some other more mundane diversions like today. Edit - Looks like also a JetBlue A321, United 738 and ATC ...

Re: Virgin Australia @ SFO on 8/20 ?

Cal usually flies out of OAK - is there a reason this trip is out of SFO? Better facilities for the 777, or customs, or what? VA doesn't serve either airport.

Re: SNA and the 737MAX

I can see AA or DL doing SNA-JFK, but not with the MAX. I do think that WN could possibly look into routes like SNA-BWI, SNA-MCO, SNA-HNL, SNA-OGG with the MAX though. Why not AS? I'm sure they would be first to start Hawaii service. I'm surprised they haven't found a way to make it work with curre...

Re: New San Francisco International Airport (hypothetical)

There's not going to be any new BART tube (or any other train) between the airports. Any new rail crossing of the bay will be geared towards commuters between Oakland and downtown SF, as there is probably 20x the demand there as there is for an airport route. And there won't be any new runways built...
