The first that I recall was the first crash of a 747, a Lufthansa aircraft on takeoff in Nairobi in 1974. I was 9 years old at the time, which seems to be a common age for one's first recollection.

Yes, I live under the Sea-Tac flight path in Des Moines. I can ususally read the registration when the palnes are coming in from the south. When they are departing to the south (which is most of the time), they are usually too high to be able to pick out the registration.

I highly doubt it. First of all, there are places in Europe that get much colder than Seattle usually does, and secondly, I do not know if Boeing Field is able to accommodate the aircraft. Moses Lake, maybe, if it does come to the Northwest.
