RE: Hawaiian Replacement For The DC-10

I too doubt that HA will go for the A330. I think the DC-10's will be with HA for quite some time. HA gets good lease terms for the 10's from American. Eventually though, the 10's will be phased out and I think HA will opt for the 763 or 764. If not new 767's then second hand ones. Who knows, maybe ...

RE: Hawaiian's L1011's/DC-10's

From what I remember hearing, the L1011's suffered from corrosion and were constantly being repaired to fix this, but it was an ongoing problem. At the same time that this was taking place, Hawaiian was going through financial difficulties and bankruptcy. Eventually, Hawaiian got rid of the L1011's,...

RE: Hawaiian DC-10s

HA is deffinently due for new colors. But they can't get rid of the "Pualani" logo on their tails. That logo has become somewhat of a landmark in Hawaii and the Pacific. They can change everything else but the logo.

RE: Hawaiian DC10 Scheme Vs. DC9 Scheme

Its great to hear they are getting brand new 717's soon. I saw the mockup at the interisland terminal at HNL and it looks great! I can't wait to fly them. I wonder if HA will change their color scheme to reflect the coming of the new jets.

I flew a UA 777 from DEN-LAX a few days ago. This 777 didn't have the map feature on the PTV's. Nor did it have the map button on the armrest.

Thai Airways Interior shots

Does anyone have any interior shots of Thai Airways' First Class, Business Class, or Coach cabins? I am in need of some photos. Any interior shots of any of their aircraft will do. Thanks

RE: DC10/MD11 Doors

Actually, door L2 is the main boarding door. I think door 1 is a "service door" Doesn't it seem logical to have the bulk of the passengers who are in coach and board last enter through door 2 so as to not go through the first class cabin when first class boards first?

RE: Favorite Airport

I think Honolulu International (HNL) is great. I love the open spaces where you can see and hear those mighty jumbo jets as well as the smell of jet fuel and the crisp sea air. There is nothing like taking off from the Reef Runway in the afternoon from HNL. I also love seeing all those Hawaiian, Uni...

RE: Hawaain Orders 717's & Dan-air

This is great news for Boeing and HAL. HAL will certainly give Aloha a run for their money. If i'm not mistaking, Aloha's 737-200 are much older than HA's DC-9-50's and I haven't heard anything about any fleet replacement for Aloha. Dan-air: HAL has been operating in the west coast market for some t...

RE: Flying On The Triple-seven

I flew on a UAL 777 from SFO to Denver this past weekend. The flight was excellent except that the PTV's didn't work. The flight crew made no announcement on that. They just proceeded with the usual business. They gave a "traditional" safety briefing because of the inoperative PTV's. There was no en...

What About The DC-9-50?

All this talk about HA's DC-10's leaves one wondering about their DC-9-50's. The DC-9 has bee with HA far longer than the DC-10. They will eventually have to replace them. What would make a good repalcement for them. I think they might stick to "tradition" and go with a fleet of Boeing 717's. A 757-...

RE: AA DC10s...gone!?

Well, they won't be entirely gone from the world. It is good to see that many of them are being leased for a new life to Hawaiian Air for their west coast-HNL routes. At least they are in a paint scheme very similar to the original AA DC-10 scheme

Hawaiian And Aloha

Aloha's planes are very cramped and they took away from that "Hawaiian" atmosphere that everyone expects in Hawaii by becoming too commercialized and tailoring to the business and first class passengers. Hawaiian tailors itself to the local interisland travelers and tourists. I heard that Aloha got ...

RE: Hijack In An ANA 743...

TransStar is right about the type of airplane.... It is a 747-400 Domestic and not a 747-300 stated by tailscraper. The 747-400D has all the external features of a normal 747-400 except the winglets. It was catered to the high yield, short route Japanese markets that didn't need the long range of a ...

I forgot to mention that Hawaiian has a partnership with American Airlines. Also, they get their DC-10's from them. If i'm not mistaking, you can claim frequent flier miles on American with Hawaiian.

RE: Airlines To HNL

Your best bet would be either United or Hawaiian. Both mainly use DC-10's to HNL with United using an occaisional 747. I would reccommend Hawaiian, they are generally cheaper and have better service. Also, I think Hawaiian would most likely have a seat on stand-by, but United has a few more flights ...

Dash8 is right about the tail section. However, the strakes under the left and right side of the cockpit also appear on the DC-9-50 and DC-9-51 series as well.
