Not that I've seen the film so can't say for definite, but I do remember seeing a memo at work about how a Star Alliance advertising exec had negotiated with the film studio to ensure that the departure boards in "The Terminal" only had Star Alliance carriers shown on it.

Can anyone confirm this?

You have nothing to worry about in this case. The issue airlines have with passengers not using both coupons of a return ticket is when two cheap return tickets are bought to use as back to back in order to avoid min stay or Sat night stay requirements, where the second coupon of a return ticket is ...
