UA announced a 20% cut in schedule worldwide. Does anyone have info on what routes/desstinations/flights will be cut?
I am sure they feel they have to do this. I feel sorry for the employees who will be laid off because of these cuts.

Some people make you wonder if they are idiots. The lady on the phone confirmed it by opening her mouth! Some do it by typing.....
Hey Ben88 U said the psalm was a slap in the face to all who are not Chritsian/Catholic (gee, I thought Catholic believed in Christ and were Christian???), but anyhow Ben, the psalms are OLD TESTAMENT, the Jewish Scripture. So Jewish people were offended since they are not Christian/Catholic??? I do...
Jump to postThe news in PHL reported that this UA flight from EWR left EWR flew west over Lake ?? and tehn did a U turn back towards the east. An indication of ???
Jump to postThe terrorist want to disrupt our existance! Don't give in. SHow them that they cannot intimidate us. I am flying on Friday on UA and will. They will NOT dictate who we are as a country!
Jump to postIt sounds like a good theory. The news says they can retrive the voice recorder form this which should give them some insight as to what happened and who was doing it. A new report stated that a passenger used a cell phone to call and report that the terrorist were stabbing the passengers to death b...
Jump to postI have done it just for the heck of it, and also to obtain miles in the FF program (UA) to maintain 1 K. I have done several times:
PHL-SFO-PHL (somtimes overnight)
PHL-IAD-LHR-IAD-PHL ( Generally one or two nigts in London).
I think it has to do with the American concept of service. We have a different outlook, more equalitarian then say European or Asian. They see themselves in "service" mode, Americans do not. We are all there "together".
Jump to postNRT has only one runway due to some farmers. Therefore it is VERY heavily used by International flights using jumbo jest. Therefore they do not give up slots to smaller domestic flights. Just too many planes for the capacity. It is a REAL pain going domestic in Japan Tonky. KIX has more domestic con...
Jump to postI love flying, unless it is on UNITED! Who has terrible service and attitude.
Jump to postReally good stories. They make the drudergy of flying more enjoyable. I guess some passengers would complain about some humor, but it is nice. I like the first one about the UA gate agent. Great way to handle the passenger, peer pressure!
Jump to postInteresting for all the defenders of UA that Goodwin was not mentioned.
Question: What do Goodwin of UA and Bethune of CO have in common? They both turned an airline around.
Told to me by a UA FA. They really love their management!
I have not heard good things about KLM service lately. If it is, as someone says, really NW, you would not miss KLM anyhow. As to hotels, AMS is not big. I stay at the Hotel Amsterdam which is right by th Damn Square and the train station. GREAT location for everything. I do not know if it is 4 star...
Jump to postYou will really love it! I flew Upper Class LHR-IAD because UA canceled my flight (luckiest move I had). Be sur eto use the liunge. Get there early. Enjoy it. And also on the other end in London. The staff is incerible. Ther service is great! Their meals are "unusal" as is everything, but great. I L...
Jump to postIt is not just movies they mess up, also books. Often they talk about small planes flying to Europe, or flights leaving the ast coast of the USA at mid day (which they do not) and arriving in Europe that same morning, or leaving Europe in th eevening and arriving in New York the next morning. I thin...
Jump to postFor those who askrf. channel 9 is NOT used to speak with ATC from the cockpit. It is an internal channel on which you can hear the cocpit talk to ATC. If you have ever flown you know that whatever channel you are listening to when the cockpiy or FA speak over their phones their voice over rides anyt...
Jump to postGlad to hear more good things about UA. Almost like the old days. Had a bad experience last week SYD-SFO. Towards the end of the 13 hour flight I was listening to channel 9 as we approached SFO. All of a sudden we heard the Pruser talking to the cockpit. He was saying that a pax in F was F****** Pai...
Jump to postI am glad you had a good experience on UA. It sounds like the "old" United where they responded to a problem situation. It is too far between such good reports of UA. Glad there are some.
Jump to postChina Airlines does not compare in any way with Singapore or Cathy Pacific. Completely differnet flight experiences. Singapore is rated as one of the best airlines in the world and Cathy is not far behind. Of course cost is a factor. If the costs were equal take either Singapore or Cathy. If cost is...
Jump to postThe best is Singapore Airlines. Interesting, United flies to Indai (not sure where) but no one suggested them! You can use your miles to get a free tickets on any of the Star Alliance. Only Lufthansa allows you to use your mileage to upgrade to another class. If you use your mileage to obtain a free...
Jump to postUnless the coupons had any restrictions on them you could use them anytime, on any darem domestic or international. Generally the ones for overbooking are good for anything. Yes, like cash. You can not use them in the Skymall or any Star Alliance partners. Only on United. Of course, you had to get t...
Jump to postI have flown F on several airlines including the picture LH and SQ. NO COMPARIOSN when F is on the main deck. LH is nice on the upper, but much more cramped feeling then the rest on the main deck.
Jump to postI travel to Peru often, but generally fly north to Trujillo not CUZ. I generally take Aero Continente. I have flown all of them except TANSA. Actually service and on time performance has become much better. I think any would be fine. I thin to CUZ they only fly in the morning due to altitude.
Jump to postA report was released stating that United has dropped 9 % in passengers. They claim it is due to a reduction in business travel and the economy. When will UA finally admit that it is also due to their frequent flyers leaving UA due to poor service? They need to finally be honest about the effect the...
Jump to postUA is dropping this route in August. Did not last long. Typical UA publicity stunt. CO now has this route.
Jump to postI am always happy to see a post by you with a new livery. I think u are great! PLEASE, keep them coming. You UA is so much better then the ugly present one. The LH needs something. It does look like Asiana
Please keep up the GREAT work!!
Not on United. First is too crowded with non paying employee/owners flying upgraded. Even with Miles or upgrade coupons u can't get upgraded.
Jump to postReport today that US received several awards for customer service and rightfully so. They do a good job at it. I wonder if UA has the worst customer service? I am 1 K and they treat us terrible. I can not imagine how they treat the casual flyer. Had a res supervisor on the phone today who basically ...
Jump to postI flew ATA for the first time last week. I had to go to CHciago without a Saturday night stay over and at the last minutes. I save exactly $1,000.00 over UA or AA. I fly over 100,000 miles per year on UA and then other airlines, so get quite some exposure. I flew ATA from PHL-MDW. The flight left Ph...
Jump to postGet real! Outragged! A lot worse could happen. I am glad that 1) the package in the center was a "cigarette" brand and not something else, and 2) they were not holding a drink As to the comment that they might drop the cigarette and burn the plane up, are you for real? Do you remember the 'years" th...
Jump to postThe airlines can promise all the "extras" on this plane as they did with the original 747. They had bars, and pianos, etec. But like the 747 the airlines will just cram more and more seats into the plane. They do not care about passeneger comfort, just profit.
Jump to postHey KaiTakFan Great report! You really made it real. You are a great writer. Glad to see you so excited about aviation at your age. Thinking of a career in it? All those times over the Pacific. You are lucky. Hope some day u are lucky enought to get in UA First Suites. They are terrific! Thanks for ...
Jump to postYou can not beat SQ!!! UA is nothing special.
Jump to postANA767 you are LUCKY about UA and delayed and canceled flights. I travel a lot on UA and can not remember the last time I took it long distance that there was NOT a problem. I came back from LHR on it this month (or was suppose to) but it was delayed 11 hours. I was on it last week and it was delaye...
Jump to postI am and have been a 1K flyer with UA for several years (over 100,000 miles a year). So I have had lots of experience on them - too much. I only fly them because I have to. Their service has decreased greatly. Their employee morale is horrible. They are stripping all amenitied. Once they have your m...
Jump to postThere are many topics posted for UA on this baord. Many deal with the perceived decline in service and attitude of UA from management on down. Passengers complain about lack of service, rude employees, reducing amenities. Of all the airlines spoken about here it seems that UA has the most conversati...
Jump to postPan Am did 747SP from JFK to NRT not to Hong Kong. After United bought out routes/equipment from Pan Am UA started nonstops SFO-Hong Kong with former Pan Am 747SP.
Jump to postWhen you begin to travel distances such as to Asia you cannot look at just one airline, but the alliances of which they are part of. Delta is limited in Asia and alliances. United is part of Star Alliance. The Asian partner is Singapore, whcih can not be beat in service. You can take Singapore to Ho...
Jump to postYou will REALLY ENJOY SQ First Class! I have been lucky to fly it several times and they are GREAT!!!!!!!!! Let us know what you think of it.
Get to the aiport real early and enjoy their lounge. Use the one in Singapore too.
I have not done them trans Atlantic but have used them in Europe. They are fantastic in Europe so I would imagine their trans Atlantic would also be good.
Jump to postI think American diplomats are required to travel American lines when possible.
Jump to postGood question. I often wondered myself. Thanks for asking Let's see what people say.
