UAPHLCS perhaps you need to go back and re-read. I did not say I did not want to give up certificates. I said I do get upgraded when I use them. The certificates are very good. My basic statement is that I have NEVER received a "call up" to be upgraded complimentary. Yes, I do get upgrades when I us...Jump to post
NW-ELITE U may find it hard to believe that I have not been upgraded, and so am I! UALPHLCS, I do not fly at high volume times like a Friday or Sunday night. Often it is Saturday during the day or mid week. I am not saying upgrades do not happen, I know they do. I have heard that often enough from P...Jump to post
UALPHLCS By the way I live in PHL and of course start my flyding from there, and I have not had a CS call me up for an upgrade!Jump to post
UALPHLCS you read my post correct. I have NEVER been given a complimentary upgrade after years of 1 K status. I do not ask unless I have the coupons. As to attitude, after flyinf UA for 20 years and the declining service, I, like so many FF of UA have just gotten plain old tired of it. I have NEVER ...Jump to post
Generally to determine the cost of a trip it is not just the total fare, but how far for that money. A 500 mile trip may cost US$700.00 in economy ( PHL-BOS), and a JFK-LHR (over 3,000 miles) can cost as little as US$400.00. SO when u are looking at the most epesnive ook at the distance flown for th...Jump to post
I heard United Airlines (which died but they forgot to bury) is thinking of "Rising" again! Their "friendly Skies" suffered a massive coronary which lead to their death.Jump to post
Are upgrades easy to get for the highest Frequent Fliers? I have been a 1 K (100,000 miles per year) on Untied for several years. I have NEVER been given an upgrade! I have asked, and unless I had coupons, no deal. I have NEVER heard my name called out to "move on up". Of course, that is whay USATod...Jump to post
I usually fly UA ( 100,000 miles per year). I thought their Business Class was not to special until I recently flew NW NRT-SEA in Business Class. It was the sorriest cabin I have seen!. Worn, threadbare, very basic. Service was good, but the cabin/seats were terrible. I asked the FA if this was an a...Jump to post
A few years ago I was flying the BA Concorde LHR-JFK. Looking out the window and ahead, to the left and below I could see a "speck" in the sky. As we moved at an incredible speed we caught up to, flew above and passed a 747. It made me realize how fast the Concorde flew that we were able to catch up...Jump to post
Correct me if I am wrong (and I am SURE you will) but is any airlines discussed more on this board then United? And it seems mainly negative, especially by their highest FF, who are the ones who know how good/bad an airline is. I do not see such negative discussion of AA, NW, AA, CO, DL, etc.. Does ...Jump to post
What can one say about UA? In its day it was tremendous! Terrific customer service, great morale among the emlpyees, really enjoyed flying them. I have been 1 K for many years. I have met some WONDERFUL UA employees at all levels. Can anyone deny that all that has changed? Morale among employees is ...Jump to post
NJTurnpiker - U've got it right about the Bourbon chicken. I ALWAYS take it. Have not seen it anywhere else.
I think he is refering to the USArways shuttle between terminals F and C. The big white Dulles type are for remotes parking of ac to take pax on and off.
Air Tran is flying out of terminal F. It has the shortest security lines, and in PHL that is something to brag about! The shuttle to C runs very frequently and I do not believe you have to have a USAirways ticket to take it. You travel along the tarmac by terminals B - F and the taxiways and runways...Jump to post
I believe the head of the US Department of Transportation claimed yesterday that security wait lines would not be longer then 10 minutes. Is this just a dream? I know at PHL, the UA line can be close to an hour.
Do you think the 10 minutes is possible or just a politician speaking?
Parra It was not just US Airlines who laid off employees. Think you should check your facts. BA laid off employees very quickly. You are right that some European countries have free (not really, since they pay higher taxes) health insurance, but from friends throughout Europe, try to get medical car...Jump to post
You don't have to worry about "over attention" in econmoy. They do no teven know you exist! In Business or First they do give alot more attention. Perhaps she went a bit too far, but... worse things happen. Be grateful she was friendly. I have too many who are anything BUT friendly!Jump to post
I fly UA alot (over 140,000 miles this year). I do enjoy the upgrades. How does this happen? 1. Certain fare basis allow you to use FF miles to upgrade 2. Certificates sent to the FF for upgrades (domestic and international). 3. Depending on your level of FF program (25,000, 50,000 or 100,000 miles ...Jump to post
Too bad if the airlines/people don't like the requirement of submitting a list!. If the airlines don't like it, tell them to "take a stand" and stop f;ying here. I am sure the USA is their most lucrative route. Bet they will decided to comply. Most of our forefathes came through Ellis Island or th e...Jump to post
Interesing to hear the Pacifico can pick you up. ExpressPark drivers said that it is not allowed, they can be fined, and have signs in their vans saying pickup at F is not allowed. I wonder if Pacifico just got lucky and did not get caught or if Expresspark is not up to date.
Philadelphia airport recently opened a new beautiful terminal, F. However they did not put into the plans a palce to pick up passengers. When you get off the plane you claim you luggage, go upstairs, though a bridge to the E terminal, through another bridge to the baggage claim, back downstairs to t...Jump to post
UA has suffered tremendous bad feelings for a year or more now. MANY, MANY frequent flyers have left do to horrible service. Now there is a new CEO. What steps or areas must he address quickly to change the flight from UA? Some areas I think: 1. Employee morale - It is very bad and it is passed on t...Jump to post
Nice trip report. Thanks!Jump to post
I was at PHL today and at the UA/CO security check the line extended out of visual sight. The line had to tale over onehour to get to security. Is this the same at other airports? This can not continue. If it takes hours to check in and get to the gate people will not fly. Security, certainly, but s...Jump to post
The late news tonight (9-28-01) announced that USAirways was cleared to begin curbside check in tomorrow mornong. THe news claimed that if the airlines could prove the bags went through the same screening process, they could check in at the curb. Thursday, the check in line went for over four hours ...Jump to post
It is truly sad that these dedicated people will not be unemployeed, and as you say, difficult to work in their field. We can not begin to undertsnad their feelings, just a "tahnk you" to them, and good luck The Terrorist attacked the whole world, not just America! Hopefully people will see this and...Jump to post
I flew US today PHL-FLL; FLL-PHL. The plane in both directions was about 3/4 filled. More people then I expected. Security was about the usual. In FLL they asked me to take off my shoes and put them through the machine because they beeped. No problem with that. Moral of that is: Make sure you do not...Jump to post
Thank you for an EXCELLENT post! I have been so moved these last few days by the people going to Church, synagogue or mosque to pray! Thank you for your sentiments! It is truly to their credit that the crew and pax flew in spite of fears to show the terrorists that we will not let them destroy our world.
