RE: Jetblue & Less Competitive Routes?

I think the main thing that JetBlue needs to do is raise the fares on the transcontinental routes-----that's where they're really losing money.......they can keep the fares lower ($39, $49, $59, etc) on the short-haul routes because it costs them less......but the $99 and even $149 O/W on the transc...

RE: Moody's Cuts JetBlue On Weak Earnings, Outlook

I really think where JetBlue is having a lot of their problems is on the transcontinental routes. As nice as they are, $99 or even $149 O/W isn't profitable, especially with the high fuel costs. Those fares need to be $189-$199 O/W minimum. If JetBlue can get the transcontinental fares to profitable...

RE: Qantas' Aero-Political Subsidisation: A Sad Loss

I agree with Singapore Airlines. It is not fair for the Australian government to prevent more competition other than Qantas and United. This allows higher fares on that route......besides, Singapore Airlines offers a better product than either Qantas or United. Why don't they just let them go for it?

Emirates Expansion Plans

I've been studying Emirates Airline. I am amazed by their rapid expansion. I was just wondering where they plan to expand next.

I was thinking that they may want to serve places such as Washington, DC, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tokyo, etc.

Any thoughts?

RE: USAToday: Why United Airlines Will Fail Again?

Ok........I change my response. Yes, Business Class is where the revenue is. If they can keep Business Class of good quality and at a reasonable price, then it would be ok. I really think United should dump the 31-inch pitch, though. I sat in Economy Plus from <acronym title="Chicago - O'Hare Intern...

RE: USAToday: Why United Airlines Will Fail Again?

I just think that United is in serious danger because I believe they have overestimated the premium market. Yes, it does exist, but I don't think it's as large as they think it is. Low fares and quality service are here to stay! The legacy carriers must accept this or they'll never succeed. The days...

I really think that UA should introduce a uniform, low-cost, low-fare, quality service across the board. Having all of these different products is dangerous. Here's what I think United should do: 1. Eliminate Ted. Introduce a low-fare, JetBlue style a...

RE: Southwest: Where Are The Cheap Fares?

I like Southwest. My only concern is that making money may have gone to their head.... My concern is that airlines like Southwest, AirTran, and JetBlue may want to be "temporary low-fare airlines" and then "morph" into high-fare airlines where they, for instance, charge you $999 R/T to go 400 miles....

RE: FLYi Files For Bankruptcy

This doesn't suprise me.....I'm amazed that they made it this far without filing.... I hope their restructuring goes well and I hope they don't go Chapter 7.... Maybe a good first step will be to dump all the CRJs......they're not at all suitable for low-fare operations.....the A319s are much better...

RE: What Can We Expect From DL After The BK?

I think that Delta has a chance to be very successful, but I don't think they should "run away" from the domestic market. Low cost, low-fare carriers are here to stay and Delta needs to be a low-fare carrier. I think Delta is a great airline and has good aircraft (especially the 738s with 36-inch pi...

Emirates Costs

I was looking at Emirates' cost structure......it's extremely low......from what I can tell, their CASM is about $0.03 US per mile. That's awesome! How do they manage to do this? Any thoughts?
