RE: A330 And 777 In The Same Fleet. Why?

G-KIRAN, Lacking the range - agreed. But too small? In MH's configuration, its A330 carries 12F/32C/250Y = 294 pax and its 777 carries 12F/33C/233Y = 278 pax. A difference of 16 pax capacity in favour of the A330! I must agree: I am equally perplexed about AF and the use of their A340 and 777-200ER ...

A330 And 777 In The Same Fleet. Why?

A number of airlines, particularly Asian (MH, TG, CX, EK, KE) , operate both the A330 and B777 in their fleets, the rationale for which I find hard to understand. I know that airlines like MH and KE use their 777-200ERs on long haul nonstops beyond the range of an A330 but on other routes, especiall...

RE: Northwest Suspends 3 Routes, Includes Kul! But...

This is the second time NW has pulled out of Kuala Lumpur. They last time they served KUL was in the mid-1980s, operating a twice weekly 747-200 SF0-TYO-KUL. That lasted less than a year.

Spotting At Regal Hong Kong Airport

Would anyone know where a good place for spotting be at Hong Kong's Chep Lap Kok?
I saw a pic of the Regal Airport Hotel which shows the hotel literally overlooking the tarmac. Has anyone done any spotting from the rooms or rooftop there - and was it any good?

RE: Lauda Air To Double Flights To KUL, SYD, Mel?

I wouldn't read too much into the Malaysian press if I were you... they're filled with inaccuracies - firstly, NG does not have a large enough fleet of 777s and/or 767s to double their frequencies to KUL! As you rightly point out, MH has already suspended Vienna; and NG's service to KUL is timed to ...

RE: Should UAL Fly To Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia?

I had heard that UA was planning a KUL service but that was during the pre-Asian crisis days in the mid '90s. Unless it can gain fifth freedom rights HKG-KUL or NRT-KUL, neither of which it has at the moment, I doubt if UA will operate to KUL in the near future, if at all. Coupled with the fact that...
